well, these two women aren't your typical homeless...they won't take charity....they move from weis up to th 7-11 corner...today they were wearing "Miss Rosa Parks" signs.....they never sit down...they just stand in one spot, but i would like to know what their story is....someone needs to send the local paper over there to do a story.....or dr. phil needs to go over and say
'Is it workin' for ya?' duh?

I drive by these ladies everyday to and from work. Raining, snowing, cold or hot they are always there. One is always writing something while the other is reading (looks like the news paper). I've also noticed they don't change their clothes, at least not for a very long time. What are they lugging around and why? I ask these questions everyday, where do they sleep, what do they talk about all day, where did they come from, do they have family, but mostly just why?

I have seen these two ladies for about 5 years myself, every day, to and from work. Rumor is, the mother is schizophrenic and couldn't stay cooped up in their house. So, they sold the house and chose to live on the streets. I even heard that the daughter (the younger of the two) actually has a child that she lost because of her decision to stay beside her mother. I am f'ing clueless on how they can stand out there day and night, rain and snow. And oh yes, the Rosa Parks signs. They have been wearing them now for about a month. I say "wearing them" because they were just holding the signs but evidently, their hands got tired so they now have them front and back with string in the middle and over their heads. And why Rosa Parks? I don't recall Rosa fighting for her right to stay homeless on the streets. At least she liked a bus, just preferred to be up front.:) So what their cause is, I have NO idea.
They love hanging out mostly on the corner just in front of the liquor store, but today they were up near Weis. You would think if they were outside the liquor store they would at least pick up a few brews. Heinken for me please.

First Eric is right as to thier story but what he didnt put in is that they were run out of their home state of West Vergina. They used to sleep in side the post office till people complained to the post master, the new police chief tryed to help them and they told her to go to hell you evil white devil bitch. They use the Weis Ladies room to take a bath in. The best thing for this community to do is run them out of this state back to west vergina and put in that states Psych hospital so it is at thier expence.

Hey thanks Ken for the additional report on how they got the boot from West Virginia.

I didn't know that. Havre de grace is a nice little town though and every location will have some bad apples.

I'm not even bothered by the fact that these ladies are hanging out there on the corner anymore. I used to have concern because I thought they were homeless, but given the circumstances and back story, I now just drive by and shake my head every day wondering WHY they continue.

I'm curious about this post office story because I've never heard anything to make me believe they would call someone a devil white bitch.

Oh, and FYI, they are still wearing the Rosa Parks signs. Still clueless on all that since they just donned them only a month or so ago now.

What time was it? They do tend to retire for the evening in their chateau, somewhere around 9ish.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who wonders about these two. My fiancee and I see them everyday, morning and night. Most times they are right there in front of the liquor store. It is definitely very strange that they are always lugging around those suitcases. Also, they always seem to be reading what often looks like a map.

I know the minister from 1st Christian Church in town and he said that he has stopped before to offer them help and that they got downright nasty and said they didn't need any help.

Very strange to say the least.

I think you may have missed some notes. They do not want assistance nor do they want to live in a house. It is believed they actually have money from selling a house. They are mental.
This morning I caught them at at a crucial point that I had not seen before. They were coming from the opposite side of Rt 40 and were in the center median, heading to their hang-out area. So I think I may have finally caught them coming from wherever it is that they stay. Now I know what side of the street. I think I will start coming in a little earlier each day to see if I can figure where they sleep. Oh, this was just about 0555 this morning. So, i think they like to be to "work" by 0600.
They still have their silly signs, though now they just hang them on the luggage. Guess the string was becoming abrasive on their necks or something.

HdG needs to build some more AFFORDABLE apartments-the cheapest housing is in Battery Village but even that you have to buy with a nice little down payment and extreme credit-but the monthly is $400 mortgage. But anyway they should build some decent apartments where the Wilson Street Tranquility Townhouses used to be to maximize housing for people like this.

Well approximately five years ago these two ladies worked for my husband at the McDonald’s in HDG and yep you said it. CRAZY!! The mother more so then the daughter. The daughter is just brain washed by the mother. While working the mother would not allow the daughter to speak to anyone and they had to wear skirts it was a religious thing so they said. Then the story was that people were after them that was the reasoning behind the daughter not allowing speaking. While working they were living in the motel across the street from Weis. I think they actually worked at Wal-Mart for a brief time after McDonald’s I think their names are Mary (Mother) Fatimah (I think that‘s how you spell it)(Daughter). The whole Rosa Parks thing is beyond me. Rosa parks lived in a house and did not want to give up her seat on the bus. HDG needs to get rid of them, five years is long enough. It’s loitering they need to be gone!

This is my mission too! I actually just got on the internet to see if I could find out anything on these two and I am so glad I found this forum!

I have seen them since I moved here a couple years ago but I saw the Parks signs for the first time today. My curiosity was peaked so much I parked and went to talk to them. I walked up and asked what their signs say. They showed them to me. They say, "DENIED! December 1, 1955 ROSA PARKS". That was the day she was arrested in Alabama for the bus incident. I asked them why they were wearing those signs and what they meant. No answer. They stared at me, smiled politely and munched on some more Utz Potato chips. They did hold up the signs to show me, which was more than I thought they would do.

I've talked to Weis employees and friends that live close to their "hangout". No one knew as much as I have learned from reading here.

I have often wondered if they are some social experiment. I see them writing and reading and I wonder if they are writing some book or something and they are basing it on their experience. I am also wondering if they are waiting for someone to do something specific or figure something out about them. Maybe they are waiting for that spaceship afterall. Why standing though? Why Rosa Parks? What is in the luggage? Where do they sleep? So many questions.

I sometimes feel like this is a mystery I need to solve. And it will be a movie one day or a book.

It is fascinating to me.

Hi Tiffany,
Welcome to the club.:) I just thought I'd check back today to see if any new posts have been added and found yours. Well, one thing I've found for sure is that wherever they sleep, they seem to show for work pretty close to the same time each day, around 0550-0600. I've started to give them an occasional beep as I pass. I keep intending to stop but just haven't had the time. The Rosa Parks thing still baffles me though, not so much that they have the signs but that they had gone for years before deciding on the signs. Maybe it was all part of their grand plan to wait about 5 yrs before deciding to show their cause. Anyway, look forward to seeing more.
