Found no mention of Day of Prayer

If the media, including our small town newspaper, supported things like the National Day of Prayer as much as they support that empty suit, no experience candidate, obama, this nation might not be in such sad shape.

why bring politics into every article and comment? either support publicizing the day of prayer or don't support it... and leave political candidates out of it for once.

Pray harder for more publicity. That might work.

Ah yes, religion has done the world so much good. I would venture to guess that religion and religious beliefs have caused more harm to humanity than good. |
Partially true, but if you don't see the damage done by removing religious perspectives from our children's classrooms (along with corporal punishment, etc) you should surrender your driver's license and get a seeing eye dog. |
|
There is no denying the conflicts you hint of, but fortunately, with the exception of the islamist viewpoint, none are threatening lives and the future of the world. If you can't see the decline in society since madelyn murray o'hare and whatever biased judge the heard the case took religion from our children's classrooms, you may wish to surrender your driver's license and get yourself a seeing eye dog. |

Are you trying to say the not so distant past debacle in Ireland was not a Christian based war? Let's not blame all the worlds religious woes on Islam. Yes, today it is mainly the Islamic extremists causing conflicts. But, as sad and inapropriate as it sounds, we did sort of bring this on ourselves. In the late 80's extremists like our old buddy Bin Laden told us to get out of the middle east or we will pay. To quote the much maligned Rev. Wright, "the chickens came home to roost". I say we ( the USA), should mind our own business. In actuality, the U.S. is threatening the future of the world as much as any powers that be. |
I am not religious. I think prayer is dumb. However, this is a trend. Liberal policys in America do not want prayer, religion etc... anywhere in our lives. Personally I could care less about that, however the CONSTITUTION states there shall be freedom of religion. It seems to me most courts, politicians etc. have tried to limit religion as much as possible. IMO that is wrong. Leave it to the government to continue to trample on our rights. The government knows best. We are sheep. We listen and don't bother to question anything. Drugs and religion, two parts of our lives where the government knows best for us. Stay tunned, more Government knows best coming soon. |

It is politics. Joe you are an idiot. Obama is an idiot as well. Whats wrong with that statement? Those are both proven facts. Attack on religion is a political issue. Remember all the fuss over the 10 commandments monument? Politics. Anything involving religion is politics. |
|
Religion is another right trampled on. Personal feelings aside (Religion is a load of crap to me) however this nation was developed on a basis of religious freedom. The pledge to the flag, currency etc... all has parts of religion involved in the creating/manufacturing of those items, speachs pledges etc... Everyone has the right to believe in whatever they want to according to the constitution. DON'T INFRINGE ON OUR RIGHTS. Prayer in school = Stupid. Pledge to the flag = Important. If students want to pray on their own as part of their religious beliefs at school, allow them. It is part of their religion. |

You may have a small point about the conflict in Ireland, but although I didn't follow the details of that confusing situation, my assessment is that it was more coincidental that the occupants in the area were primarily segregated by religion and they fought, but that the fighting was not caused by religious differences, but by the desire of one group to control the other. However, if you are of the opinion that the so-called 'reverend' wright was unfairly maligned, or that the islamists don't realize that once their oil runs out, all they have left is dirt and the ability to grow opium, so therefore need to take over other parts of the world for their race (?) to survive, we may not be able to agree on much.

Frank, I'm saying what the Rev. said is partly true. Sad to say, but us proud Americans are very slow to admit wrong-doing.(witness G.W. Bush). As far as the EXTREMIST Islamists (don't lump all Islamists in one boat Frank), they haven't the strength to defeat us militarily. They really just want to be left alone, as we do. If we would quit trying to push our beloved democracy on them and establishing military bases all over their lands, they just may back off. We would be just as irate as them if it happened to us. And it really does boil down to religious differences. What we need in this world is an atheist bomb. Something like the nuetron bomb, only it renders everyone without a god to fight for. Peace at last.

Are you smoking crack as you post? That is the only drug I know of that can make one as stupid as you sound. Go re-evaluate your facts. Moron. |

... and this is why there should be no such thing as a "National Day of Prayer"!
Was this a US Congress sanctioned "Day" or was it a Coalition-of-Churches-inspired concoction? |
First, let me suggest that you take the time to read the quran. While reading, please note the number of times you read anything about peace, love, etc. and also note the number of times you read about how the followers of allah should do something dastardly towards us infidels. We anxiously await your observations. By the way, the islamists are not targeting our military, these low-life target ordinary citizens and it may be somewhat of a surprise to you, but they will cut the heads off of appeasers just as quick as the rest of us, so you and yours will not be safe just because you speak up on their behalf. As for "reverend" wright, his form of poison will destroy our culture as a whole - not just the simple minded that thinks he makes sense. I don't have the time or space to share my thoughts on this person. |
|
It is pretty scary to see presumably ordinary people taking up for islamists and "reverend" wright. It is even more scary and threatening to learn that they do so without the influence of drugs. At least with drugs, they would have an excuse for their misjudgement. |
|
Rev Wright is an idiot. Anyone who listens to him deserves to be given the tar and feather treatment before being sent in front of a firing squad. Then for someone to suggest we our at fault instead of the Islamic extremists. This idiot must have eaten paint chips as a baby. |

everyone has the right to pratice their religion freely and i agree with that but i dont like having it shoved down my throat.if christians want to have a prayer day, cool with me,but why broadcast it on tv?on the religious channels(sp?) fine, but other than that?as far as religion in school, everyone should be able to prey in school if they want and/or have clubs that deal with their paticuliar religion, not just christianity but any other religion that one might pratice.AND FOR THE RECORD,"REVEREND"WRI GHT IS A WACKO AND SHOULD BE SILENCED,THE GARBAGE THAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH.
