its a crazy name, but it means "fountain in heaven." the food there is WONDERFUL!!!!! and if you stop in, make sure you try the crab balls. they are kinda pricey, however its only an appetizer, and its enough for a whole meal by itself!!!!

5 stars!!!!

Well good luck to them. But way to funky and expensive for the folks of Hanover. The clock is ticking...won't be long before they are gone.
Hanover never accepts anything new and innovative.

Just because you drive a Ford Mustang and chew tobacco doesn't mean that you represent everyone. Just remember, there are now a lot more "outsiders" living in Hanover than there are good ole' Hanovarians.

I do neither, nor am I a native. But I have lived here long enough to see places come and go and come again. This place will go the way of Super Suppers, they to banked on all the McMansion owners flocking to there store. But the McMansion owners are having a hard time with their ARM to get more than McD's or Jerry and Sals. Just call it like I see it.

WOW...did you learn you debating skills at a public school?
Peeps? Duh? dont?
I can see you must have matriculated at one of the finest institutions in the area.
See the point I was trying to make, was that price and familiarity of product is what makes a business successful in the Hanover area.
And people do have time to hang out and make a meal...it is called making dinner with your family. Been done for thousands of years.

No Joe Dirt, I mean Joe Hanover...families DONT have time to cook with their families. Most homes now have working mothers and fathers, so who has time to cook a 2 hour dinner? That's why so many PEEPS go out to eat...

**Excuse me for using keyboard shortcuts and expressions...I understand that all rednecks/old people have a hard time dealing with this. The shortcuts are because IM busy and DONT have time to use an apostrophe...every hear of text messaging?

MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH WORK FULL TIME, AND WE MAKE TIME TO HAVE A FAMILY DINNER TOGETHER. MAYBE MORE PEOPLE SHOULD DO THE SAME AND WE WOULD NOT BE OUT ROBBING EACH OTHER.

I took my mother here for Mother's Day and it was terrible. My mom and I ordered salads and my husband ordered a chicken dish. It took 20 minutes for them to bring bread and another 25 minutes for our dishes to come out. Several tables that came in after us were served before us! I don't care if this place is in Hanover or NYC, that kind of service will not last anywhere! No one wants to wait 45 minutes for a salad!

I've been to Selsabeels 3x's. The first time we had the best meal and because they didn't have the correct sides (which they then corrected) they gave us free desserts. We waited about 25 minutes for our 4 meals. I ranted and raved to everyone how good the food was and we even had the international menu to order from.
The 2nd time it wasn't great, the steaks were all well done ( we had ordered rare).
We were just there on Friday evening( May 16):
5 minute wait for a table because they had to put 2 tables together (took our adult children with us in celebration for a bday, and we were ranting about how great it was).
We then waited for about 10 minutes for the young lady to bring us menus (No International Menu) and ask if we wanted something to drink and a appetizer. Everyone wanted water with lime except one,10 minutes later she slopped down ice water (no lime). After about 5 minutes we were told they were out of lime, we asked for lemon guess what they were out of lemon also. We had ordered a sampler for an appetizer and 15 minutes after ordering a woman came out to tell us they had no coconut shrimp but could replace it with something else. Guess what the bread finally arrived.
After 1 hour 15 minutes the meals were brought out in pieces. The Teryaki Salmon was minus the Teryaki glaze. The Salmon with dill dressing was minus the dressing, the firey grilled shrimp was missing the dip for the shrimp. We were missing two yams, an order of green beans and the mushrooms on the Portabella chicken.
Not once did anyone offer an apology and our waitress definitely made us feel as if we were messing with her time. I guess it was the manager at one point came out and said the waitress had ordered both of the Salmons plain. Never did she say "oh I'm sorry the young lady is learning or she's having a bad night" ...nothing.
I invited 6 a total of 6 people to go out for a bday celebration ...what a terrible experience. I think we'll find somewhere else to spend $125.00.

It was so good the first time, what happened?????

We tried this place one recent night, too. Walked in, waited about 5 minutes for a table, which the hostess "steered" us to. Sat at that table for a good ten minutes. Not one waiter/waitress acknowledged us in any fashion. So, we got up and left the restaurant. They were very crowded, and there was a waiter who was serving the tables around us, but he never said a word to us. We figured no one knew who had our table, but that is still unacceptable. Hope the owners read all these comments and take some action.

We were there in May and it was absolutely HORRIBLE!! The wait between visits from our waitress was extremely long. The waitresses were walking around the restaurant with their noses in the air - too good to serve us? None of them were watching their tables. The folks behind us sat there for a good 15 minutes before they were even acknowledged - and they had to get up from their seats to find somebody! The food was acceptable, but neither my dinner nor my husband's dinner was what we ordered. My dinner was incomplete and his was another dish entirely. No apology from the waitress. The food may be good and healthy and the owners might mean well, but because of the staff, we will not be returning.

It is disheartening to see such bad posts. They seemed to have opened on mother's day, so they were probably just getting started (I was there for the madness). Recently I gave them a shot, and ALL of the servers were alert and attentive. Our waitor was especially nice to explain the cuisine and the history of selsabeel. Our stay was about 45 min. for an appetizer, entre', and a slice of cake (which is apparantly homemade). I say give this place a shot, they are obviously much more organized and capable since May.

I plan on giving them a shot. I welcome any restaurant who strives to serve healthy meals with no trans fats and the organic ingredients are another welcomed entity.

For those that have had bad service, mention the 20% discount. All restaurants deserve a second chance, especially if the service was the problem.

Was there a week ago. Our meals were great, the service was good but the DECOR is terrible. The tables and chairs are first class but the entrance area with the soft drink cooler and counter are horrible and the walls are sand yellow with nothing on them. Seems the owner's know nothing about restaurant decor ala the old Hanover Diner.
