As a resident of Hamilton Township for 35+ years, we have lived here with & without a police force. We have been much better off since the State Police have started taking care of us. At least we dont have "township officers" getting paid our hard earned dollars through taxes writing sensless high dollar fines to our kids riding ATV's on their "own" property anymore(which the parents end up paying). One officer we had really pushed his weight around here unnecessarily, & I believe I heard he was part of the reason the police force was abolished to begin with. Our Property taxes have risen from $500.00 to $3000.00 over the last 25 years. $732.26 of our tax money was spent on postage for that survey, it could've been added to the voting ballot for free & probably gotten more response! We didnt get a tax break when the police force was disbanded did we? So where is that budgeted amount going? If there are extra funds in the Township, we could use it to fix the deplorable conditions our township roads are in. This township should be ashamed of itself. Diviney Hill, Spangler Road, The Spangler Road (really bad), Gun Club Road, Parts of Pine Run Road,Cedar Road, To name a few, the list goes on & on. Everyone laughs at the change in road conditions at the Maryland Line, Well its the same when you cross into Hamilton township! Pretty balcktop from Oxford road to the township line at the new school then its pot hole city! Look at Route 30 from Cross Keys to Abbottstown, Absolutely Horrible. Now if you want to try to get something accomplished thats constructive, lets fix the roads! Forget this Tar & Chip Crap. All that does is screw up our cars & the stones end up in our yards! If we would fix it right for a change maybe it wouldnt have to be done for awhile. I see they went around & patched holes. This was done Half As*^d as usual.
