How else are illegal-aliens supposed to learn to speak, write and read English, when their parents only want to their kids to learn Spanish.

Sorry, in this country and all states we speak ENGLISH as the primary language. Also a reminder ENGLISH is the international language of the Entire world for business.
If want to live here in the US, then start using English or go back to Mexico.

And in what language might these multi-cultural books be written? At what reading level? The board considered only "English Language Arts and Reading standards". When teaching history, or "social studies", the appropriate domain for dealing with any cultural learning, I suspect these standards might not apply so rigidly. If the case could be made that a particular text was essential to a valid learning objective, its use would likely be authorized for that purpose. This is a grievance without any grief.

Now there is finally a reason to issue a call to arms; Spanish language and history instructors were not consulted on the English Language Arts curriculum. Aha! The trail of smoke leads us to the gun of racist conspiracy!
