You took the words straight out of my mouth. "All in the name of God". This is the number one reason I stay as far away from religion as I can. Spooky stuff. |

few posts? you would think all the southern baptists around here would be going crazy about this story. seems they have no problem with it. figures.

I so agree with you on this. You do realize silence says so much more. By now, should have been close to a hundred posts, yelling and carrying on about what to do the men behind this. I myself....think like I always do....just put them up against the wall and open fire! |
|
And people say TN is full of dumba@@ hillbillys! Look what these people are doing. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black!

Forget about it...."unbelievable" got you off the topic. Crockett rocked. A fine man. Not many like him nowadays. I, for one, are with ya. Thank you for your rationalism. |

Badger is my totem. Was just lending a helping hand, as this topic has not moved much one way or the other. You're welcome. By the way, you've a wonderful gift of being very articulate. Refreshing. |
Well heck DC, someone had to get us started! "Remember the Alamo!" General Sam at San Jacinto!(The indians here called him "Big Drunk!") |

Well, indeed you are correct. By the way, I moved all my Texans back here. Odessa,Lubbock, and Amarillo......I'm from up north my own self. But I sure do miss west Texas & Big Bend. |
Dyan, I was a young high school baseball coach back in the late 70's and on my way to Miller, MO for a 2 week counseling session at a baseball camp. I stopped at the restaurant ran by Tony Alamo outside Little Rock for breakfast. To make a long story short, when they found out I was an educator, they tried to recruit me. I had trouble getting out to my car and it nearly erupted into a fight. Finally some supevisor came out and told the other two to back off. I got in my car and left. The guys at the baseball school said they had similar experiences. WEIRD!! |

I love riding around the Big Bend on a Harley. Sometimes I take my metal detector and hit some of the old forts. What fun!! |

Sounds like a dream. Could do that for the rest of my life and then some. I love to hunt for everything on and under this earth. Am an avid rock collector. Brought home 205 pounds of rocks from Big Bend. Also love Terlingua, I go and holiday at the ranch down there, when I can. Is awesome. One year in the month of May down that way every cactus for as far as the eye could see was in bloom. Thought I died and went to heaven. That was the year I stayed in the ghost town in Terlingua. Can't say how much I enjoyed it. Will never be enough or right words to do so. |
|
I read the story on the MSN home page. This was a good sized community. People had to know this was going on. Or something illegal was going on. I just don't understand how it could go on for so long before someone tried to step in and help.

A few years back, I went to the Chili cookoff at Terlingua. Took a friend of mine from Wisconsin. He said his taste buds haven't been the same since!! |

Not really, things like that can be well hidden. The good folk think religion a good thing, regardless of what is going on. But someone leaked what was going on, or it would still be in business. |
