US launches first relief airlift to Myanmar after cyclone

“Apart from the delay in getting aid to people we may now have to re-evaluate how we transport that aid”

The United States launched its first relief airlift to Myanmar on Monday, after prolonged negotiations with the isolated country's military rulers, who have been accused of restricting international efforts to ... via KansasCity.com

I think the West should not wait on permission from the junta to bring aid to the Burmese. They should initially go in with military personel and let the junta know that if they touch one soldier or in any way try to disrupt the relief effort, then they (the junta) will be taken out.

Should China, which supports the junta indirectly through its trading policies, try to disrupt the West in any way, then the Olympics and China trade should be bycotted. Although I am not normally in favor of using sport as a political weapon, this crisis demands an exception. 125K are dead and much more are in iminent danger due to the delays.

Asean countries should be ashamed for not pulling Myanmar into line as it is an Asean member.

Thanks to the Press pressure on the Chinese Ambassador at the UN Meeting. Plus diplomatic efforts and no doubt corporate pressures this aid is on the ground with more to follow.

Tooth4U, at least some good can happen. It is difficult to identify a diplomatic success, in light of our market relationship, we do wish them well.

when this French war ship arrives, I doubt they will taking no for an answer on delivering aid. Already, France is pushing an initiative in the UN to deliver AId with or without the 'generals' approval.

I have on other threads seen what would happen without an immediate UN Sanctioned strike force to set up a buffer, or Corridor of Compassion to stand between those who allow this travesty to lanquish, and aid workers coming in. China would not fess up, after all thier propoganda machine about being an aid nation, dropping in the first airdrops, gave them away. No? If they were invited first by thses despotic 'generals' then they have the most influence over those Generals. NO?

They need hip waders, those that come in. They need to be certain not to when in the water get too much on themselves. This is a true travesty on a grand scale.

Perhaps China will now see that it too is not immune to catastrophe. ANd sober up, before they meet God.

I have been trying to figure out Myanmar-Burma's political orientation for some time now.

The media calls it a military regime, but not "right-wing"...which is odd for them.

So, I've been doing a bit of research and, it appears, it is a LEFT-WING military dictatorship.

AAAAAHHH...now I understand! The media never likes to admit Leftist atrocities!

First off, Burma has a socialist history that goes back to 1962.

"In 1962, General Ne Win led a coup d'état and established a nominally socialist military government that sought to follow the "Burmese Way to Socialism." The military expropriated private businesses and followed an economic policy of autarky, or economic isolation."

The current military regime functions pretty much the same way, with state owned factories and all.

==========

Second, Russia and China are staunch allies of the Myanmar regime. From the Bangkok pundit:

"A unilateral - and potentially United Nations-approved - US military intervention in the name of humanitarianism could easily turn the tide against the impoverished country's unpopular military leaders, and simultaneously rehabilitate the legacy of lame-duck US

BP: The UN Security Council won't approve it in a million years. China and Russia would veto it. Oddly, Crispin even writes "the US tried to have Myanmar's abysmal rights record put onto the UN Security Council's agenda, but the motion was later vetoed by Myanmar allies China and Russia". So China and Russia won't allow Myanmar's human rights records to be raised, but will agree to a US invasion? If China and Russia agree, I will dedicate a week of posts on how great The Manager, Sopon at The Nation, and the coup was.

On the unilateral nature of the possible invasion, TJTS blogs:

I don't think China would tolerate it. Or Russia. They'd prefer to see millions of people die before lifting a finger to help anybody. After all, that is there political legacy to the world-- killing millions of people."

==========

SO...once again we have a murderously oppressive socialist regime - and the media isn't accurately reporting it.

From Stalin's day to today...some things never change.

Perhaps....... let me post what is Left and Right. Most people think its origen is French. It is not. Oh how grim. lol. Right wing is Luciferic. Red hot Devil. Left wing is Santanic. That dark death figure in midevil art sitting at the gate of Hades. lol.

So, if this is Satanic, then it most surely involves rituals in the realm of black magic over its people. Ruthless oppression of the 'spiritual'/

We have far too much talent in America to get caught up in what is happening.

Study the 'barter' system in Chile. It is working people to people and it is a phenonmenal idea who's time has come for America now.

Just wait till the new leadership of this wonderful country takes over - I don't care how you cut it, it's not going to be good. All three candidates stink to high heaven. Bush was good for his first term. The second term though, I don't know what he was smoking. I'm sorry for voting for him the second time. Fortunately, I did not live in New Orleans. As for the garage sales.. that's dangerous territory.

LOL ....... rent the movie Exclaibur 1980 flick.
It is a story of the Grail and King Arthur. In it you will find the passage wherewith Bush made his statement "either your with us or against us' lol. See, that is the fundamentalist reaction to Calvin doctrine. OH how good the movie moves from there.!

Haha bought Sean Hannity, the good lil Jesuit boy on Faux news uses the music from that film for his radio show . LOL

well..... Rush Limpjaw made it so. Barter system is not dangerous.

Chile has a whole system in place for Barter. See, correctly what one will from garage sales. Dangerous is displacing 22 percent of the workforce as well.
I leave all to the free will of the people.

one thing garage sales do is reduce our dependence on china. and....... they also allow us to communicate neighbor to neighbor.

No need to purchase will earase our need to connect. Connect to the earth, and our neighbors. For we are all in this boat togeather.

China welcomes assistance.
The raining season will be harsh and the Gorges Dam must be evaluated.
