all i have seen was an ad in the local paper for New Director

as usual news paper has not reported on this issue.

About a year ago, the council was faced with serious cut-backs on their programs because the Director failed to submit a 4 year plan to the State in support of their mission statement.

There was a vote by the council to remove the Director, Ms Augustine.

Three council members voted to remove her. Three council member voted to keep her. One council member failed to cast a vote. The vote was a tie and so Ms Augustine was able to keep her post as Director.

The three council members who voted to remove her all resigned from thier positions. Mr Touchet was one who resigned stating he refused to be affiliated to an organization where the Directors inept actions caused grief on the ones they were supposed to protect.

That was about a year ago and the budget cuts due to the missed 4 year plan deadline are a harsh reality for the seniors.

Sounds like the kitchen is getting too hot for the Director.

Wow, Donnell, I'm not impressed or surprised that you would so eagerly pass judgement on this issue.

Ms Augustine has been working on the VPCA since 1978.
It's not an easy job, perhaps she was siimply burned out and not so heartless as you'd believe.

We dont need or want news from a year ago from sum one who does not live in parish Dawn.
I have heard that grants were not file in a timely manner as we all have.
The question I would like answer to is how much is in Budget now and when will new Director will be hired.

The previous posters were not asking your questions, they wanted to know what the history was behind the Directors apparent vacating her post.

Surely you know who the board members of the VPCA are. Why don't you just call them up and ask your questions?

You are incorrect madam broussard. Although I do not live in abbeville, I do own a house in vermilion which I frequent often. I can often be seen sitting on the bench outside the courthouse.

I am not concerned about " elders". Black berries that stain everything grow on those and I do not like them.

I however am concerned about the elderly and their needs being met.

No worries Mrs Broussard,
you won't hurt my feeling by not responding to me but I would like you to know that I am very concerned about all elderly in this country. Not just in Vermilion and not just in Mukilteo. I very hard every single day to pay my $50g tax bill of which supports Medicare, for one example. It is very much my business when an organization fails to deliver the services which so many elderly depend on such as transportation to their doctor appointments, delivery of warm meals, or simply to provide a drop-in visit to ensure that elderly person has what they need to be safe and warm and well.

Maybe you can find a better way to help those "elders" that you worry so much about instead of using your energy defending your precious Topix forum from someone like me.

I'm not really sure what services they are supposed to provide. Could you enlighten me Dawn?
I know a" day care " for the elderly would certainly help a lot of us out.
I went to them once for help with my mothers taxes. And I must say they did help her out. Other than that I haven't had much use for them. I would not even think of putting my mom on the bus!
