Since t-boy knows so much about the swamp and how we allegedly live, I bet he's got webbed feet too. LMAO But back to the topic. Our parents here want our school. Our parents here support our school and when we have children who achieve and succeed the whole family and then some shows up for the award ceremony. Can we say the same for any big city folk? From what I hear about some schools, lucky one parent shows up. I hope Randy succeeds and I don't particularly care for him as a superintendent but I still hope he succeeds in helping this area out.

Well, I live in Henry, by choice. I'm no marsh rat, or any other of the insulting names given by T-Boy or anyone else. We live in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and we have the RIGHT to CHOOSE where we want to live and how we want to live. And NOBODY has the right to judge us for doing so. As for the tax comments- I pay a hell of a chunk of property taxes, and have for many, many years. I earned 2 college degrees and am fairly well-educated, as were my parents, grandparents, and the rest of my family. We are hard-working, self-sufficient people who asked nothing of the government or anybody else. What we have WE EARNED! We are law-abiding, faith-following people who help our neighbors and raise good children. My INSURANCE paid my repairs- nobody else. And even for the people who did have government help- the people out here have worked hard and paid taxes their whole lives. If this horrific thing had happened to you, you would want help, too. As for the school, Henry had a nice school. We were NOT a burden to the school board. That school operated in the black, with plenty of surplus money. The Texaco Plant and some other major businesses here provided a good tax base for the school. The people here supported that school. It was taken away because of POLITICS- Rita just gave them ammunition to finish getting rid of it. As for the "living in a flood zone" comment- no matter where you live, there is a chance of natural disasters. Would you want the Hawaiians to leave because of the volcanoes? Should all the Californians leave because of the earthquakes? Should everybody leave Kansas to flee the tornadoes? Should all the people who live in metropolitan areas leave the cities to escape the heavy crimes? Where would you suggest we all go? I know where I'd like to tell t-boy to go!

Wow people are so quick to judge!! I lived right by downtown abb my whole life but now I live in the island and there's NOTHING WRONG WITH IT! So funny how people are so quick to judge! We built our land up so we don't flood, I agree that people in flood zones should FIX the problem and not mooch off of FEMA and to that ERATH BITCH DONT YOU DARE FORGET HOW AHS OPENED OUR DOORS JUST SO YOU COULD VANDALIZE! But anyway FIEB has plenty of kids and INDOOR PLUMBING IS NOT A LUXURY. Nor are other common necessities. Those kids have more respect and common sense than all of those inner city kids that would just as soon rob you blind as soon as you turn your back. We also don't use the emergency foodstamp. Just because they're available because we actually have jobs and don't live off of welfare WE FEND FOR US AND OURS SO GET A LIFE.

Oh, but you don't get it sweetie. They think we ARE marsh trash. I for one didn't get any help from any government entity after that storm. After having a C-section just a couple weeks prior to Rita I rolled up my sleeves and got busy cleaning up for ourselves and our neighbors. I wouldn't live in any town anywhere around here if I couldn't live in my "swamp". There is no other way of life to me and my family. I will fight for FIEB as long as I can and as hard as I can because of everything you said. And thanks Boone: Our little neck of the woods ain't nearly as corroded as Abbeville and Kaplan. Peace to ya'll today.

I love the islands! The most wonderful people live there and we do alot of work for many in that area, they are very hard workers and giving people. It takes someone with a strong will to stay and rebuild all what they have lost over and over again, no money no matter how much is worth all the heart ache of loosing sentimental objects and passed down family homes. We had to build a few buildings as homes north of Abbeville for some residents of forked island and Pecan island, and to have to listen and view their homes and the disaster was horrible. No money can ever comfort you in a time like that, just my feelings.

T BOY lol "You are only perceived as an idiot until you speak, Then you remove all doubt" it is called humor, sarcasm, etc. etc. Of course I know a g goes on the end. It is a comment on the speech patterns of country folk. They tend to leave the g off of some words. So I was making a social commentary on the speech patterns of tifi. Also she seems to be having a difficult time out there in the swamps. So I was trying to help her out.

Stupity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result. If you do not want to loose all your famiy heirlooms and homes then you move to were they are less likely to get destroyed. If it happens once then it is a tragedy. When it happens over and over then it is an occurence not an anomoly. It is called a flood zone because it regulary floods. Should all the people who live in metropolitan areas leave the cities to escape the heavy crimes? Where would you suggest we all go? I know where I'd like to tell t-boy to go! Great your house gets destroyed, your insurance covers it and everyone else's rates go up 30%. I have never made a claim on my homeowners policy yet my rates go up 30% because you swamp rats insist on living in a damn bowl. Also our property taxes in this state are ridiculously low compared to other states so you have not paid a ton of property taxes. And of course everyone's property taxes went up, because we all have to pay for swamp rats to have schools and fire houses that were flooded and had to be fixed. If there are not enough students at a school to support keeping the school open then the school should be closed and the kids sent to another school. Pecan Island is a perfect example. It cost more to keep that school open than can be justified. The teacher's salaries, the utility cost, insurance, food, etc. etc. If you have two college degrees you would assume you have enough sense to move from a flood zone. I only have one degree but I know enough not to live in a flood zone. As far as your assinine comments about Hawaii and Kansas, well you are comparing apples to oranges. The cost of hurricanes and flooding in South Louisiana far outstrip the cost of vocanoes and twisters. Now as far as California, I hope a giant earthquake hits and the state and everybody living there sink into the Pacific Ocean. I can only hope that when it happens Nancy Pelosi, Babara Boxer, Maxine Waters, Harry Reid and Obama are there at some fundraising benefit along with every idiot in Hollywood. P.S. Floods and Hurricanes happen more often that eruptions and twisters. HAVE A HAP HAP HAPPY DAY!!!!!!!

There is sentimental value here, something you know nothing about. With all your use of big words you should learn how to use small ones. How do you loose all your stuff?

T-Boy just a friendly reminder that when Hurricane Lili hit Abbeville, it looked like Abbeville got bombed. And, thanks to the claims made for that storm there my insurance went up then, and I living life largely in the swamp didn't have a nail out of place. No tree fell on my house, no water came through my roof. It goes both ways. I pay sky high premiums just so I don't have to live next to the likes of folks like you. The property my husband owns has been in his family for over 100 years and I can guarantee I won't be leaving it for the likes of you. Happy, Happy Day!
