All these service and repair shops are getting pricy. Speaking of, if anyone needs to have any lawn equipment repaired, there is a new little repair shop on the old Hi 14 near the tire shop in Erath. This guy is quite reasonable. Look for the signs on the same side of the road as the tire shop. My lawnmower had carburetor problems. It just needed to be taken apart and cleaned. Charged me 25.00 to do that

Which
They are you talking about. Also I thought that the sportsman
only worked on evinrude and yamahaw. The sportsman used to have
a dude mayby named Wayne who was very good. But that was about
15 years ago so he may not still be there. Thanks for all the tips.

The mechanic at The Sportsman is Randall and he is a very good OMC mechanic. I don't know if they work on Mercs. The other Mercury mechanic in Abbeville is John on Port St. and I don't really hear any pros or cons about him. It doesn't look like there is not much going on at his shop from passing by.

Is that the one who is a trahan? he pissed me off last time I let him change the oil in my boat. he takes th old oil filter, with about 8 ounces of oil in it, puts it back in the box and puts it in the back of the boat. I didn't know he left the old oilfilter in the boat. It rained, filled the back of the boat up, and I had burnt oil, all over everything.
I ain't never brought him anything again.

You guys need to offer the mechanics a fishing trip or use of your boat after the repairs. Maybe they'll do the work on the side for cheap if they had stock in your boat.

"Do the job right, or it will be you stuck paddling mr mechanic"! I feel for you guys, really I do. Not.

ok to set the redcored staright..
since 1979 Randal Porter has been the mechanic at the sportsman. so for the one that said wayne is the machanic is FALSE... another thing Randal is a wonderful machanic and has no complains from ANYONE who he works on their boat. its to the piont where pepole are asking to come to his house to get work done. Now with that said the people in the front of the sportsman are rude beside kathy which is randals wife. they're not that expensive because you get what you pay for. and thats the truth. It upsets me that a VERY GOOD friend of my would have this said about him because i know the work he is capable of. i seen randals work and met the pepole that hes worked on thier boat and they cant wait to get a tune up because hes very friendly and VERY fair.so if you have the paitents of dealing with the front to get VERY GOOD WORK done to your boat than the sportsman is the place to go.

honestly.

So you are trying to say that Randal and his wife are the only two nice people at the Sportsman? Is he Superman and she Wonder Woman?
Also it seems odd that people can't wait to get their (thier) boats in for a tune up. Since when do people want to spend money on a boat unless they have to and sure are not looking forward to?
You tried a little to hard on that one

The sportsman is what u are looking for.... Himel is expensive and they only do what they need to get away with and get you going while I had the same job done at the sportsman in Abb. and the results were night and day

Mr.Mike and Mrs.Edith at the Sportsman have been having the Sportsman all these years people, if they were not doing something right they would not still be open! They are great people and I believe that Kathy could fix those motors just as good as Randal
