I know exactly what you mean It happened in my family OCS went WAY over the top They are completely out of control. Not all of them but most of them The one lady who helped my family member was really good But like all places of employment the good eventually leave because you can't fight the evil.

They do make you believe they are on your side. Then boy do they do a 180 on you. Or is it that most of them are so incompetent at what they are supposed to be doing? Who knows. But I know that you can't complain about this place to the higher ups because they are seen as not being able to do wrong and as an angel to some kids when in fact they are the devil in disguise.

does Coleman run that asylum too?

...(jk, but sounds suspiciously similar to the way the APD has been run in recent years.)

Your kids would be better off without you for being a liar on topix. I hope you don't teach them to lie.

What we have here with OCS, is that they are being used as a tool to harass your ex. White trash low class people use them all the time to harrass someone they don't like.
I am middle class, but a few of my friends are not, and over the last few years, I have heard of a few cases of harassment via State workers. A state worker showing up at your door, is kind of like the IRS showing up. Even though you know your home is in order, you get disturbed inside, because there is always that chance you have a problem you don't know about.
Anyone here reading this, can call the office of child welfare anonymously, and make a false claim against someone you don't like and that person will get a visit from a state worker who will assume your false accusations are true until proven otherwise. And there is not one single backlash against the person making the false claim. The state worker will visit the accused, and interrogate them in a manner that would make a perfect mother uncomfortable. For the record you mothers out there, don't let your sons bathe with you past age 3 otherwise you too may get a vist from OCS telling you that is not acceptable.
Also you must realize who works for the state in those departments. People with sociology degrees. A sociology degree is one of the most useless degrees out there, and most of them end up working for the state. The second most useless degree, is a degree in "criminal justice" With that degree, you can get a job as a probation officer and that is about it. And your pay will be barely above minimum wage.

Those are good points, but you left out one. Do not sleep with your children. That is unacceptable, whether it is mother and daughter or father and son. It is okay to have a boy and girl in the same bedroom, but don't let them know you sleep with a child.

That's even funnier than OCS itself. At one time it was rumored or even put on TV for that matter that Sen. Nick Gautreaux of Abbeville was trying to see what the heck was going on in that department and either he got no where or it was never really followed through on. But the result was the same. Nothing was ever mentioned again. As in hush - hush, maybe? This was around the time the child was alleged to have been beat by the father around Christmas or something.

Boatlander has many good points in his comment .. the real shame is that there are no punishments for those who file false reports. Even worse these same people in turn are allowed to keep making false accusations against others as well again and again but yet nothing is ever done.. like I said in my earlier comment .. people who truely need to be investigated because they do not take care of their children or do abuse them are left to continue doing so . The child's intrests is not what is important in these cases and that is unforgiveable.. yet again we see the way that a form of suppose to be justice does nothing for the one's that it is supposed to protect. Makes me wonder what in the hell this world is coming to . It leaves me to say that if you are going to have children then make sure that is what you want for your life and protect them .. because if you do not no one will ..

There are different experiences for different people I suppose; but, in my experience it is extremely hard to get OCS to believe your claim of someone neglecting or abusing their child.
I have reported someone before and it was not believed until it got really bad. Your report cannot be 'hearsay' or just a hunch. OCS has a tough job and I wish they had more power to go after the ones not doing their jobs as parents. An adoptive parent has to jump through hoops over and over again to have children whereas people who easily have child after child sometimes don't care for the children adequately. And boy, as a teacher I've seen the results of much abuse and just try to help those children! The system is surely not working. Too many 'parents' are self-centered to take care of children.

great comments posted. again I want to say that there is no test or classes needed in order to be a parent (would that be so wrong? you have to be approved first? LOL) some people have kids for the welfare money or even a tax write off which is sad. many people are too immature to handle the kids. these same people have screwed up lives themselves and can't take care of themselves. how can they take care of someone else? think of all the tax dollars we would save if we forced birth control until a person proves that are fit to be a parent. I know this sounds a little crazy. what do you think? would you be willing to give up freedom for the kids?
