Serious question

United States

#1 Jul 6, 2013
This is a serious question.... Does anybody know what business previously occupied the building that now houses Vermilion Office Supply in Abbeville (Back in the early seventies? Also, does anybody know if there used to be a cafe next to it that may have been torn down? I'm hoping that somebody out there might remember these establishments? In addition, there used to be a shoe store across the street, but I can't remember the name of it. Thanks in advance for helping me to solve a mystery.

You're right about Style Shop. I remember it now that you say it. When I was very little, it was a shoe store, but then it became Style Shop. I don't remember the pool hall. Thanks.

Yes, it was the Style Shop which Mr. Mouton owned, later his wife Mrs. Ann opened the boutique, named Ann's Attic upstairs. Gosh, they were 2 very special people. Sure do miss them both dearly. The only store my mom would buy my shoes when I was a child.

I used to work at the Style Shop and Ann's Attic. I was only a kid and worked on weekends. Washing windows and pulling old sales tags off of shoe boxes in the back. Very classy people that owned it. Fine people.

Do you know if they owned any more shops by the name "style shop" in other small cities?

No, I'm pretty sure they did not. I worked for them a good while, they never said anything about another Style Shop out of town.
She had such pretty taste in home decor, after reading this morning, missing them I revamped the living area! Lol
It's funny, how a topic can bring back such good memories for some....:)

You all are correct. Style Shop, Ann's Attic, and the shoe shop. The Midway was where the old El Camino's was. Thanks, everybody. I was trying to figure something out, and you all helped tremendously. My mom said the corner opposite of the old Audrey Hotel was Ardoin's drug store. If any of you are interested, go to values.com and click on the commercial for "Break Away". There is a split second shot of a small town. It's Abbeville, taken in the early to mid-70s. I thought that was so cool!
