We need to be less dependent on foreign oil!

Senate rejects GOP oil drilling plan

Associated Press - May 13, 2008 12:03 PM ET

WASHINGTON (AP)- The Senate has rejected a Republican energy plan that calls for opening an Alaska wildlife refuge and some offshore waters to oil development. Supporters of the measure couldn't get the needed 60 votes to overcome a Democratic-led filibuster threat.

Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said more domestic oil production is needed to keep prices in check and to reduce U.S. dependence on oil imports.

Opponents said areas such as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and coastal waters that have been off limits to drilling for 25 years ought to remain that out of bounds to oil companies. The GOP measure, defeated Tuesday by a vote of 56-42, would have allowed coastal states to get a waiver to the offshore drilling ban.

I would love to know why all my oil royalties have gone to sh!t, for the last few years. We have plenty of reserves, down home, but what happened? Some were capped, some are trickling a little $. I've signed several division orders in the last couple of years, but have yet to see any further revenue. Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on? Who decided to keep our oil in the ground?( there are about 17 well's involved here)

Another thing, I noticed that when I was in Houston not long ago, and went to Abbeville for a visit, I saw them burning off the gas at just about every refinery in Lake Charles. Then while in Erath, I saw them burn the excess there. One of my relatives said they did that cuz there were not enuff trucks to pick up what they had refined????????? WTF??? So charge the public out the azz, and just burn off what you can't put in a truck??? That's just plain crazy. I can NOT make any sense out of it. If someone understands what I don't please, let me know what is going on, and what we can do about it. Another relative told me there was enuff oil and gas in S. LA, to keep the country going for hundreds of years.( he retired after 46 years with a major oil company)

As to the above post, there is offshore drilling going on already, so I must have missed something here. BP is drilling, I know for sure. Thanks Luther for posting this.
