The State of the Nation the IgboBiafra, Nigeria and the Way Forward.
( President Musa Yar’adua Let My People Go.)
While trying to unravel the mystery behind the continued detention of Chief Ralph Uwazurike the leader of the movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).
We the members of the South East Youth Assembly has come up with a strong conviction that the only reason while uwazuruike is still in detention for no justifiable reason is because he is of Igbo extraction. His only crime we noted was the organizing of a peaceful group called MASSOB.
It will be noted that our constitution allows free assembly and freedom of opinion, and a free assembly which uwazurike was mere expressing has been criminalized.
Nation all over the world have agitations similar to that of uwazurike, take for example the old USSR,Yougoslovia, spain,Czechos lovakia,Turkey including Scot in Britin, nobody in these region is been held or charged for a treasonable felony, and you know that these agitations are usually a product of oppression of a people or race.
It is on record that nobody or group of persons has ever been molested by uwazurike, within or outside Nigeria, unlike Asari Dokubo, Fasheu and Ganiu Adams who is believed to have carried arms as a result of a similar struggle, it is disheartening to say here that those who carried arms has since regained their freedom while uwazurike is still languishing in kefi prison, why should his non-violence and non-exodus pattern be criminalized?
With this little analysis you will agree with us that the reason why they still held Chief Ralf Uwazurike is because he has an Igbo blood running through his veins.
Finally we the (SEYA) make bold to state here that agitation or quest for self governance can never be a criminal act, else our quest for independent from Britain would have made all of us criminals.
We demand the unconditional release of all MASSOB menbers currently Standing trial for treasonable felony They are Chief Ralph Uwazurike 'm' 45
years old, Chibuike Nwosu 'm' 23 years old, Benedict Alakwen 'm' 45 years
old, Chimankpa Okorocha 'm' 19 years old, Kelechi Ubabuike 'm' 27 years
old, Ambrose Anyanso 46 and Augustine Ihuoma 40.
Others include Uchenna Madu 27, Vincent Ekwuazi 47 and Arinze Igbani
29 years. These men should be released with out futher delay.
