Great idea. New parents should make a sign of the cross and hiss at anyone who wants to hold their precious.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt because I don't think I was very clear with what I meant to say.

Most new parents (first time) are a little paranoid and over protective. Most people who have had kids and handled babies know how to do it. I said "most." I think the dad is being a little hypersensitive. If he is this worried then he should just not let people hold the kid until it can control its head/neck.

As for the sign of the cross...WHY would anyone want to make a sign of a torture/execution device over their kid?

Weird....does motherhood provide exemption or something?
2: New dad, involved parent, first child, not being a jerk in letter...I'm willing to cut this guy some slack and not get upset with his valid concern. He'll learn.
I don't think he's being a jerk either. Just inexperienced and hyper sensitive. I mean yeah I washed the floors on my hands and knees making sure there was NOTHING on them so that Chris could crawl around safely. First time parents...

Several years ago some comedian (can't remember who...Erma Bombeck maybe) said something like (way paraphrased) "with the first kid you do stuff like (whatever...floors on hands and knees?) but by the time you have the third you let them chew glass..."

And with all our vaccinations we wonder why more people seem to develop autism and peanut allergies. And why hypochondriacs are always getting sick.
And while an entire generation of kids who drank from the hose seem to be fine.

Yeah I was drinking from the hose before you were born and I got ALL the vaccinations and *I* am not autistic. Chris also got all of them...still not autistic. Oh and also that study was fraudulent Jenny. Not inaccurate, not a bad study, not some kind of data input mistake, outright fraud.

If there's a valid reason for autism/allergies that's connected to the younger generation(s) I'm betting that it's connected to GMO foods and foods with hormones and antibiotics. I have no evidence for this because I've done no research, and it' not a hypothesis as such, more of a notion, but without anything to actually prove it at the moment, I would bet we eventually find out that there is some sort of real (as opposed to a fraudulent study) connection.
