He wants the easy way. Be a "good" UN member. Have troops on the Israeli border. Spy on Israel from 10 feet away. No way Jose, I hope. Bibi cant be that stupid. The last time Russian advisors were on the Golan right on the Israeli border they just fled leaving behind maps and info about attacking Israel. No thanks.
He doesn't give a shit about being a good UN member. I guess in all the excitement about Syria, someone forgot to remind Putin that the Med is a NATO lake. He got a bye when we thought his ships might be needed to evacuate Russian personnel but Assad refuses to give up the ghost.

Transferring ships from multiple fleets is looking a lot more like a permanent assignment and that's unacceptable.

Unacceptable? To who? Iran, China and the Russians will go wherever they want and they won't ask for a permission slip. In fact, they make it a point to challenge NATO. What's NATO going to do? Yell and scream and stomp their tiny little feet in protest? Maybe buzz them with some stealth bombers? I can see them trembling in their lockstep jack-boots. NATO, much like the UN is getting long in the tooth and lacks testosterone to serve up some serious objections. Except in the news. That's where Putin is getting his stones. Are you watching re-runs from the 80's?

Kerry should be getting sidetracked with this issue since that is where we traditionally (we as in us, the US) drew the line. We wouldn't let them breath there in the 70's and kept them under our boot when they were this all-powerful Soviet Union. It would be a shame not to recognize the opportunism for what it is. By recognize I mean assign another carrier battle group to the area with instructions to closely monitor the Russian ships and dedicate some full-time satellite oversight to make sure we know when the S300s arrive. A no-fly zone may become a reality and those things are game changers.

Of course the Russian dictator does not give a shit about the UN. But please note , I said a "good" UN member. He just needs that Syrian port to park his war ships in the Med.

I second the motion. But, we don't matter. We're fools on the hill watching the world go by. Off to Foxwoods this AM to forget some things for awhile.

Never happens. I don't play cards, craps, roulette, Keno, etc. Too much thinking. If I can play the myriad of new video slots all day and it only cost me a C note, I'm happy. These new games patterned after Elvis, Sex in the City, The Hangover, Ghost Busters, etc. have amazing screen video clips and screen touch options to help you lose your money. But, when you hook a $100 Marlin during an 8 seat gigantic screen fishing contest, you can't help but chub up. There's a lot of multi player games that give you a sense of competition, but the real winner is the Casino. I don't care. 8 hours playing time, with $1 drinks, comp lunch at Paneras, for 2, cost us 2 C's today. That's TRD's bar bill for one day on his cruises.

If I could drink that much in a day I'd get a beverage package. No, when I splurge for drinks it's usually to use up the on board credit our travel agent tacks on to prove she loves us.

No No No. At $8 per drink, all day, that's only 12 drinks. Now, 4 for breakfast, 4 for lunch and 4 for dinner, plus 6 watching the wet tee shirt contest tells me that a C note is a good deal. And, another 4 judging the belly flop contest. Don't BS a BS'r.

I spent the last cruise with a craft beer aficionado and the ship had just modified one of the lounges to hold close to 70 artisan brews. There was a Belgian for $49/bottle and some $20 beers but I managed to make my carry-on wine last two weeks with a new beer or two each day. At the risk of resembling Euroscum I admit I like the Belgian ales at ambient temperature.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that the bullet was manufactured in a democratic country. Therefore, this is just an instance of democracy in action.

I still think it's disturbing to see these guys break the party line. Shiites would normally be hugging their Hezbollah neighbors but I guess they've been tainted through contact with Alawites.

Savagery at its finest. Bloody his head, whip him and then shoot him in the mouth and neck. In front of his parents? I wish the best to Assad.
