I've never been much of a turd polisher but the problems are bigger than duct tape and WD-40 issues. The last time we pulled together as a nation our enemies spoke German and Japanese with a smattering of Italian. Since then we've been preoccupied with pursuit of the American dream to the extent that we've mortgaged the legacy of the greatest generation.

Well, we can't just scrap it and start over...that would be the biggest waste yet. We'll figure it out...that's our thing.

Ike witnessed the game first hand at the highest levels and still could never foresee the tech we employ on the battlefield today. Neither could he comprehend the costs of today's weapons compared to those he commanded.

We do so much more with so much less that we've literally shrunk the MIC. Our forces are not only highly trained, highly motivated and well led, they are equipped with tools their enemies haven't even dreamed of with even better gear in the pipeline. Our combat commanders enjoy unprecedented access to the industry so that their field experience drives real-time solutions to the often grave challenges our troops face.

I like that our nation can project it's power all over the world. I wouldn't diminish our qualitative of quantitative edge under any circumstance.

One facet to Obama's administration, i do appreciate is the use of special forces and surgical strikes, as opposed to troops on the ground....drone surveillance and warfare is much better use of assets, rather than loss of military lives....I was in hopes, they might adapt drone aircraft, for use on our own border security....equiped with infra-red vision, they could recognize the heat patterns of illegals, and communicate to agents/troops, on the ground....

Like these?

That's our MIC at work, providing jobs and protecting our nation (those bastards!).

If our process has any real fault, it would probably be our notion that we must undo the work of the prior administration. Running in place doesn't suit us.

Yes, that is exactly the type use, i describe...but i know, civil liberties freaks are eventually protest their use, or want to limit it....I think we need to tone down the world's cop mentality....Beside's its so selective, almost racially so....

So?

If we're going to do it we shouldn't do it with one hand tied behind our backs. If we have an immigration problem with Mexicans, profile Mexicans. If we are at war with people that look Afghan, profile Afghans. And dammit, we have to stop pussy-footing around and get those Canadians under control! We should be picking those hosers out at intersections using traffic cams.

So?

Illegals have no constitutional rights and the rest of us who do have been walking through security camera'd life for years. My drugstore never asked me to sign a release and I'm perfectly aware they record my image while in there. Somebody, maybe an ACLU lawyer will lay awake at night stressing the invasion of privacy...I sleep better knowing that only criminals are the target.

Just a note from a friend on the net:

This is the END of America as all of you have known it. Socialism is what's coming very fast. People who voted for it have no idea what's coming.
10% unemployment will be the norm. College kids w/o jobs will be the norm. Health Ins. cost going thru the roof.(obama free health care).
Gas 4 -$5. normal, for now, than like europe $8 gallon. Electricity and home heating gas will skyrocket.
World military escallation due to US cut backs on our defense. Israel will be isolated by obama and he will back the muslim brotherhood.
These are just a few things that is here to stay. Get ready for a different life than you have known. USA will be down rated
to a B+ ratings soon. We will be up to $20 Trillion in debt by 2016. I just feel sorry for my grandchildren who will be taxed to death to pay all this back.
Carter damaged this country that took 20 years to repair, this time it will take a lot more, if ever.
One day you'll be able to tell your kids and grandkids what America was like before obama. Settle in for 4 long years.
God Bless America, and God Help America.
PS. Yesterday a russian friend (came to America recently) of mine said to me that he tells all his American friends that "Your future is my past".
Sad commentary by a new immigrant who came here to escape socialism.

..Actually, gas prices seem to be coming down...i paid $3.40 today, for Chevron regular....not too bad, relatively speaking....Don't need to be so defeatist, America will likely be here and well, long after we are all gone...

I'll have you know there was absolutely no question back then...Florida was the vacation home of the Confederacy, all the big plantation owners had beach houses down here. Where did you think all the carpetbaggers were headed after the war, Savannah? Puhleeeeeze.

The stock market dipped in response to the string of earthquakes from Guatemala to Vancouver. Let's see, 7.4, 4.4, and 6.3, that's a combined magnitude of 17.9 Don't look now but Haifa is on Tsunami Watch.:) The question we should be asking ourselves is:

HOW"D OBAMA DO THAT????????
