Community Profile: Hyde Park Chicago Real Estate

These days, it seems the South Side neighborhood of Hyde Park has been put on the map as the stomping grounds of President-elect Barack Obama . Full Story

What was not mentioned in the article was that Hyde Park is surrounded by crime ridden communities whoes urban terrorists prey on Hyde Park residents and students. Also what was not mentioned was the organizations from the surronding communities who extorte from the University of Chicago.

"Obama technically lives in neighboring Kenwood but had an office and spent some of his time in Hyde Park. Still, the community boasts its own list of prominent residents: former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun, Muhammad Ali and Marshall Field have all called the neighborhood home at some point.

Though the community now hosts residents of varying incomes and ethnicities, it wasn't always that way.."

I think the author is local/reginal patriot.
But still a nice presentation without blemish.

This is another reason I canceled the Chicago Tribune and the bias news reporting. They forgot to mention that Louis Farrakhan lives just a few house down from the Obama's. Of course when Farrakhan's militants were working as security for Obama is was easy for them to get to work on time. Thank you Tribune for your not reporting the entire story on anything.

unfortunately the degree not of just crime but violent, physical crime, is out of control and always has been. i'll stay out of the debate about why it is this way, but the reality is the UofC police force is the 2nd largest in the state and simply cannot maintain order even in the very center of the neighborhood during the day. muggings, assault, rape, carjacking, robberies - these are events you just get used to reading about in the maroon.

Please stop the blame whitey instead of taking personal responsibility ranting. Its very old and unproductive.

There is nothing racist about just-ice statement. The statement is true and a fact. Hyde park is a rose amongst weeds. Any crime that happens in this neighborhood can be traced to a resident in the surrounding ghetto. They need to build a moat around this neighborhood or improve the surrounding neighborhood. This neighborhood could be so much better. I'm looking forward to the Olympics and the Uof C's expansion. I know the higher taxes and rents will force the undesirables out, its already happening in Kenwood and Bronzevile, Woodlawn and Washington Park are next.

As a current resident (52nd st), I will tell you, Hyde Park is more like a weed among rotting vegetation.

The University of Chicago on the other hand is a rose.

Hyde Park is not bad. There is stuff going on, that's right, but it's not that bad. It's easier to find parking in Hyde Park than it is on the north side. You gotta be careful when you are out at night. Nowadays it seems, you gotta be careful everywhere in Chicago.

So maybe because Louis Farrakhan lives down the street from the Obama's makes it a better neighborhood, or rather the terriorist Willam Ayers who lives in the same Hyde Park. Seems like a bunch of nuts ride the rail to Hyde Park.

Hyde Park itself is a TERRIBLE neighborhood!!!

Hyde Park prides itself in drawing large portions of suburban women into it's violent circle with offers of hardened criminals who will get them their millions by any means necesarry, and residents of that terror zone love to portray it as a "quiet and happy place to live." Well, Hyde Park is the place many suburban women appear to be moving to, only so they can join gangs, marry hardened killers, bank robbers, fugitives, flash mobsters, and get their upper class luxury living the easy but wrong (and illegal) way.

Hyde Park is nothing but daily and nightly shootings, gang wars, homicides, flash mob attacks, armed robberies, assaults; in fact cop killers even live in Hyde Park! Even the campus of the University of Chicago is a horribly dangerous area, with numerous students assaulted, robbed, shot, and mugged on campus property daily. And with it's location practically on the lake shore, Hyde Park is like a recreational paradise for gangsters and thugs, especially those who may have purchased big, expensive speedboats, luxury yachts, and who knows what else with all their drug money, stolen credit cards, and all else.

No way!!! The University of Chicago is no safer than the rest of Hyde Park. COP KILLERS live in Hyde Park, Amp! And they prowl as they please. Every day, many numerous University of Chicago students ON CAMPUS are shot, robbed at gunpoint, attacked by the brutal flash mobs, mugged, and assaulted.
