Probably not, but still as a customer, the sales people might want to assume that I know stuff, have money, want to buy stuff, and treat me accordingly. Even if I don't know stuff, they should do their job and treat me as a customer who wants to buy stuff from their establishment thus ensuring their continued employment.
Personally, I prefer that people assume I know nothing. Explain it to me like you are talking to a 3rd grader. Let me be the one to establish my that the bar on my knowledge of the subject matter is higher than that, then we can go from there.

In my own job, working with people in different departments to create computer programs to help them with some aspect of their job, its annoying as hell when people just assume you know all the ins and outs of their daily duties. Start with the assumption that I will have no idea what you are talking about and build from there.

Unless you have moved, you used to have neighbors who drove a ghetto sled as I recall, which suggests that some neighbors might need spare cash. I raise the possibility that someone in your development, not even necessarily a kid, is distributing them.It is irritating to you, but sounds like the equivalent of collecting coke bottles to get the deposit money which is what my friends and I did circa 1958.
You misunderstood. These come from stupid businesses (Papa John's, etc.). No one from the neighborhood.
And if they need spare change, that's not my problem. Our HOA dues are freaking high but it keeps out the riff-raff.
Oh-and ghetto sled folks foreclosed years ago and left!

I disagree. I think they should treat them as a couple. Two people who came in the store to buy something. Talk to them both. The best sales people do IMNSHO.
Sure, they SHOULD, but if the Home Depot sales guy's experience is that 95% of the time, the man does most of the talking, they might just start directing all their questions to the man without even thinking about it. Not to mention, since I'm using the hardware store example, Home Depot/Lowes workers are not on commission. So really, they are not TRYING to sell you stuff like a traditional salesperson. They are there to help with any questions you have.

Papa John's manager gotta live somewhere. Maybe he lives in your neighborhood and sends his kid door to door for a few bucks.

They are mistaken. Never said anyone lied. You think Snopes lied? They investigate this stuff and do not have allegiance to anyone. They don't have a dog in the race about guns or ammo, presidents or any politician.

<quoted text>It shouldn't? It's certainly not a universal rule, but I think its safe to say that a young male is likely to know more about electronics than his mother. I don't know how old you or your son are, but I do get the impression that you are older than me(41) and I can say with certainty, I don't personally know any women older than me that have much knowledge about electronics(other than my former boss, but she was in IT).
Not where I come from. I work in a place where the people who actually use and know about computers are female. Not saying there isn't males who know a lot also but most of them are female. And the fact you think automatically a male would of course knows more should tell you how sexist society is.

Nothing to do with sexist society. I base it on the women in my life. Other than the ones I've worked with and some my age and younger, none of the women I am exposed to know jack about technology. its not bias. it's observation.

Exactly.

Not only that, but is removing herself from reality. Certainly if I were to go curtain shopping with my wife, the sales person would probably primarily engage my wife. Thing is men don't whine about such stuff .... "Whaaa the curtain sales lady talked to you more that me ... it's cause I don't have boobs ... hold me."

<snip> That's the end of the argument right there. They should deal with everyone equally, address everyone equally, regardless of gender, skin color, etc., regardless of whether they are paid commission or salary. Even if they don't get commission, they are dependent on customers because if the customers stay away, the company looses business, store closes, sales people are unemployed. <shrug>

Snopes is AMAZING. I read an article on how unbiased and how factual they are and they are off the charts when it comes to accuracy. They will take a story that YOU send them, and to research it, they literally will fly to the town where something allegedly happened, talk to police, reporters, businesses that may have been involved, they go to the library and look up newspaper stories on microfiche to dig deeper and find more people to interview.

Snopes is extremely reliable and accurate. And actually, Wikipedia can be the same. It is reader-edited, but a lot of topics are locked so you have to present credentials (as in, a resume with your curriculum vitae or professorship info) in order to make any changes.

You can't use wiki as an actual source for a paper, but you are allowed to use it as a starting ground to find other more pertinent sources.

I would make the same statement. I also would make the same statement about vehicles. I have one female friend who's a gearhead -- belongs to a car club, gets car magazines, researches cars just out of her own interest, etc. But she's the only woman in her club -- lots and lots of dudes.

I don't think its a stretch to think that those purchases are predominantly made by males
Predominantly, maybe, but if a woman is in the store, she just *might* be there to shop. I am female and I have purchased items in hardware stores, electronics retailers, and in the guitar shop. I own four guitars, a pricey acoustic amp, and a full sound system. I bought a barbecue grill @ the hardware store a few weeks ago. Etc...

Your reading comprehension is terrible. I did not say snopes lied, I said the peeps giving the explanations(the head of homeland security, head of SSI etc) are the liars. They are lying about why and how many bullets they are buying.

sheesh, maybe if you did not look so hard to criticize me, you could actually figure out what I am saying.

The Obama administration is not buying up the ammo. regular peopel are. It's been in the news here numerous times. Even Nick's "Outdoor News" (a weekly publication for hunters/fishermen) has said that sportsmen are buying up ammo at record rates and if you want to go turkey or deer hunting in the fall, order your ammo now.

And it appears that the government is buying ammo in its normal, usual amounts for federal uses (such as gun training):
