You're justifying your man hating by saying women should be careful of their safety. Bla de bla de da. You're stating the obvious. Of course women should be cautious, and I never said they shouldn't. But if you feel the need to pack heat when you meet your date, maybe you should use a little more discretion with who you're going on a date with. I mean, if you're convinced that every man who asks you out to dinner is a Ted Bundy, YOU are the one with the issue. And if you think he's a Ted Bundy, why agree to dinner with him?
You're a fuckingidiot! I never said anything about packing heat. I SAID that I could pull a trigger faster than someone could disarm me...IF I WAS ARMED...never said I would be. I also never said every man was a Ted Bundy, I SAID they are POTENTIALLY a Ted Bundy. I SAID it is better to use caution instead of just figuring that nothing could happen because someone you don't, or barely, know SEEMS like a nice guy.

Again I do not hate men (misandry) but your hatred and derision of women (misogyny) is quite apparent to anyone with an IQ greater than 5. For the record, just to be crystal clear, I dislike all people equally (misanthropy) in general. Gender is not a reason to dislike someone, it is however a reason to be cautious.

That said, I am done. This was fun for a while, but I'm back to beating my head against the wall from engaging with you, so in the immortal words of Sam you are TSTI and in the immortal words of Moon, please FOADIAF.

Guess not. Please show me where I did.
Or you can just admit you have no argument other than what you made up in your head...
I already showed you where you did:

http://www.topix.com/forum/chicago/TTM1G3KOHT...

You equated man hating to a woman being cautious and not wanting a man she is going on a first date with to pick her up at her home because she doesn't know him well.

And THIS is your problem. If you're a man, you're automatically deemed evil until proven otherwise. This also makes you a man-hater. More men are killed by other men than women are killed by men. Men have a reason to be cautious as well, but I don't expect you to understand that.
You do, but I doubt you'd think twice about walking down a street or in a certain place at a certain time, or to your car at night.

Woman have to be aware all.the.time just going from point A to B.

Don't even get me started on all the salespeople who try to screw you over for being a woman!

Other than automotive stuff where have you encountered sales people taking advantage because you are female? Not saying it doesn't happen, but other than car stuff I haven't run into it.

Multiple times while buying cars they sales people would talk only to my husband, even after HE told them "talk to her, it's her money." Irritating as hell. I did some experimentation over the years, informal, and I wold take the husband, son, another male with me shopping for various stuff, and hands down anything electronic, appliances, etc., they would ignore me in favor of themale. Sooo I would take them into places that sold women's clothing...still 9/10 of the time, they would greet him first and discuss purchases with him. THAT is how ingrained the patriarchy is.*I* am buying stuff for *me* in a woman's clothing store, and still the clerks (women clerks) would talk to the male...guess it's cause he controlled the money.::eye roll::

How about waitresses automatically putting the check in front of the guy instead of the middle? That one's funny.

It's mostly car people: auto shop, repairs, dealership.

I bought some ammo the other day and I was really tempted to say, "And the price if I had testicles?"

I am finding it very difficult to get ammo..380 and 9mm is almost non-existent.

It's because obamma is buying up all the ammo, so there is none for the citizens to defend themselves with when he comes to take our weapons.

Dont believe me? Google it!

Chicago (and maybe elsewhere) has a chain of music stores called Guitar Center. There used to be one in the very trendy area of Clark & Belmont and I went there with a girlfriend to get some guitar strings for her buddy. We stood at the counter for a good 10 minutes, watching salesboys rush around helping other while they just stared at us. Eventually my friend slammed her hands down on the counter and shouted "I guess you have to have a pen!s to get any service around here!" and walked out of the store.

20 years later, it hasn't changed much. Even Dickie hates to shop there; we call it Scum Center.

You could have taken the initiative and asked for help, which is what I would have done.

Best Buy used to be pretty terrible about women-profiling. I'd go in wanting specific hardware, having investigated what I needed and what I wanted, and be pushed hard toward the more expensive but poor quality stuff. This was more than one store, over many years. Years after I stopped going there altogether, I read an article about the stereotype training they would give the floor employees (how to interact with particular "stereotypes" of customers). I have no idea if they still do it because I don't go to Best Buy anymore.

Door-to-door salespeople are also pretty terrible and pushy with me, more so than I've noticed them being with my husband. They tend to be respectful with my husband while they like to do things like trying to block me from shutting the door with their foot.

No, Mimi fully understands how it works what the statistics/odds are. Nevertheless, you are not a woman, so you have no frame of reference. Period. Have a XX chromosome then you can speak to this issue. Have XY, you have no idea what it's like to be XX and be always on the lookout for Schrödinger's rapist. Ergo STFU and quit speaking of your betters as if you know even one gazillionth of what I know about...anything.

Maybe its my age (60's) dress (nice, often business) or demeanor ( assured) but I haven't had the restaurant check thing happen in more than 25 years, maybe longer. That holds true whether I am in teh city, suburbs or out in the boonies.
(Tangentially, if I want to make sure I get the check as opposed to it being placed generally, I talk to eh waitress on a convenient trip to the ladies room. The amount of the tip is implicit in the conversation).

You have given me an idea though. I am heartily bored with the car dealer commercials which tout how they give the customer what they want. They should hire and advertise women car salespersons and coach them not to assume the man is in charge. I think I shall write a letter.

Bullshit. It's paranoid gun owners running to the stores to stock up, just like happened four years ago.

I second this. I love when I go to buy electronics/computer/phone stuff with my son. I'm more knowledgeable about that stuff than he is so my son will look to me for advice. You go into the store and they immediately start talking to him. He looks at the clerk with glazed eyes and says -- "You need to talk to my mom because she knows more about this stuff than I do" and it throws the clerks.

It shouldn't, but it does.

Except the guys don't get walked past. We have a hardware store here that is infamous for completely ignoring women and paying good attention to male customers. IT's pretty legendary for how bad it is.

Whaaaaa. Maybe us men should whine about how women get out of speeding tickets more often than we do. Maybe we should whine about a woman has a choice if she wants to have a baby once pregnant and the father has no choice or say in the matter.

Not saying you whine but a lot of men do whine about those things.
