LW1: It wasn't the best comment to make, but if you had confidence and were secure with yourself, you wouldn't be struggling with this so much. That really is the problem in this situation, i.e. YOU.

LW2: Just drive yourself and let them find someone else to mooch off of.

No train close or did he just not want to take it?
Depending on where they were, that hour and a half could have been taking the train. Taking a train from further out can be a good hour+ train ride. That doesn't count any walking time on the loop side of things.

I looked at a job in River North: 50 minutes in on the rush hour "express" trains, and 20-odd minutes to walk across the loop to River North.

Oh, I know. My mother commuted from Lockport (closer to Joliet than Chicago) to the Mag Mile for many years. Even though her commute was long, an hour and a forty-five minutes - one way, she would have never considered driving. It was just too stressful.

Watching her do that was one of the reasons we decided to move close to our childcare. I did not want to spend a good portion of my life in a car with screaming kids.

Very funny Red.

I couldn't do that to my babies no matter how much I'd like to, so I just made our commute really short. About 5 minutes. We are going to attempt to ride our bikes there in the summer.

LW1: I shouldn't be laughing... I agree with squishy and Sam. Seriously, you are very young and naive. He is immature, got drunk, and did the kind of bragging that guys are fond of doing. But he is with you. Actions speak louder than words. Pull back a bit and consider dating others closer to home.

LW2: I do a lot of driving and I don't worry about the mileage. Cars today last a long time if you take care of them. I have a different attitude than a lot of people when it comes to driving. I bought my car to drive it, not to have it sit in the driveway and look pretty.

We actually had a case here when I was new to this state. An in-home day care provider had ducttaped children to the floor in order to "contain" them and keep themin one place.

parents found out and went to the media and cops. Turns out, there was no specific law against this,so they couldn't charge the day care provider with anything. Some parents took their kids out of that home, others swore she was a great babysitter and kept her.

L1: You're young. Go out and experiment yourself.

L2: What Squishy said. You're not obligated so speak up.
