The age of consent is getting lower and lower in almost every state and there's a push to get it even lower. Abstinence is discouraged in sex education, there's no stigma with teen pregnancies anymore, and people are applauding that as progress. Even Victoria Secret came out with a lingerie line targeted to tweens. And just last week the mothers on here were talking about letting their children play with themselves and even show them how to do it correctly.

Completely wrong. I have heard of NO efforts to lower the age of consent. The age of consent has been rising, actually, in the last 100 years. It used to be as low as 8 in Delaware, and 10 and 12 in other states.

Abstinence is NOT discouraged in sex ed -- it's ENCOURAGED, across the board, and in some states, that's all the kids get.

NO one is applauding teen pregnancies. Can you even prove that stupid claim?

How can you be so wrong on so many things? You just make stupid shit up.

I wish. Unfortunately, this IS the reality. There is no doubt that when it comes to kids and sex, society is going in the WRONG direction. We've even got TV shows like Teen Mom and Sixteen and Pregnant that glorifies the epidemic of teen pregnancy. We aren't teaching our kids that sex is wrong anymore. Instead, we give them a handful of condoms and tell them there's nothing to be ashamed of.

You have said yourself that you are opposed to abstinence being taught in sex ed.

I'll have to disagree with you again. These shows usually show how difficult it is to raise children and how much your life changes.

Plus, sex is not wrong. I hope people aren't teaching their kids that sex is wrong. I hope they teach them the values of waiting for the right time in their life. What is wrong to have sex before you are physically and emotionally ready for sex.

Condoms are not making kids have sex. Giving out condoms make them available for a population of people who do not have money to buy things like condoms. They wouldn't NOT have sex. They would have sex with no condoms. But I guess that's better in your eyes because you could pretend otherwise.

The major problem today is there is STILL too many people like you who do not want to educate people, who want them to just do what you say and leave them in the dark or turn a blind eye and pretend everything is roses as long as you don't hear about it.

Studies show hands down that when teens have all and the correct information they make better choices to wait to have sex and to be responsible about it once they start having sex.

But go ahead. Live in your bubble.

From the U.S. Deparmtment of Health and Human Services. I hope no one believes Edog's spillage of wrong information.

"In 2011, there were 31.3 births for every 1,000 adolescent females ages 15-19, or 329,797 babies born to females in this age group.[1] Eighty-nine percent of these births occurred outside of marriage[1]. Although the 2011 birth data are still considered preliminary, the estimated 2011 teen birth rate indicates a dramatic decline of eight percent from 2010 when the birth rate was 34.2 per 1,000[1]The teen birth rate has declined almost continuously over the past 20 years. In 1991, the U.S. teen birth rate was 61.8 births for every 1,000 adolescent females, compared with 31.3 births for every 1,000 adolescent females in 2011... "

Sex is not necessarily wrong. But...
Having sex because "everybody else is doing it" is wrong.
Having sex because you're afraid that people will make fun of you for being a 20-year-old virgin is wrong.
Having sex because you have an unrealistic idea of what being a parent would be like is wrong.
Having sex to get pregnant and get your boyfriend to marry you is wrong.
Having sex because you are afraid of losing your boyfriend if you don't is wrong.

I think more education is better. People need to learn to talk to their children and teens.

If that happened, we would not need free comdoms or sex ed to begin with. Gee, what a concept.

I've never held the position that teen birth rates aren't dropping, so I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to prove here. But are they dropping because more teens are using birth control or because less teens are having sex?

I agree. That's where maturity plays. I do not think a normal HS person would be ready for it.

What are you saying in response to my post? I agree that people need to learn to talk to their children and teens. I believe they listen and WATCH more than most parents realize.

That's where you're wrong. Not everyone speaks to their children in a way to give them the information and lessons they need.

You didn't say this, but would you rather have condoms not available to sexually active teens? Sex educations is more than put your appendange in the women's vayjay. I think it's an excellent thing together with a parent's information to their children. Do you not believe that? More information cannot be bad. Or perhaps you think it is?

It's not from what I can tell. They tell the hard truth about teens having to leave their homes, their friends and missing out on all the stuff they've been looking forward to. Trying to support their child, going through the painful decision on whether to keep it. It's not all glory.

Does the show Hoarders glorify hoarding and living in filth? I've never seen the 16 prego show, but if its anything like Hoarders, its more like being entertained by watching the train wreck. You watch and feel good about your life cause that shiatt ain't happening to you. I can't consider that to be "glorifying".
