Walking through the park at 2 in the morning is never a good idea - travel in groups or take a cab!

I can't help but think that this is making news because it is Lincoln Park, or substitute any other predominately white, affluent neighborhood.

Lincoln Park is an area where night clubbing is the neighborhood pastime, and young people walking around drunk at two am is the norm. Of course this attracts predators; it always has.

I hope that they catch these creeps quickly and keep them in jail for a long time.

It's making the news because:

1) Attacks like these are NOT common
2) The attackers are targeting men
3) It's become a nightly occurence

The fact that Lincoln Park is affluent and "white" has nothing to do with it.

Are we not getting reports of nightly shootings in Englewood, arguably one of the worst crime-ridden neighborhoods in the city?

Please stop injecting race into everything.

Scary stuff. I think it's also making the news because of the incredibly violent nature of the attacks. There's a huge difference between shooting someone and using your fists to repeatedly beat someone and leave them for dead in an alley (with a busted in jaw, no less).
Many of these attacked men even reported that they tried/begged their attackers to take their wallets, but were beaten, anyways. The guy with the broken jaw was left in an alley, only later to be found by a cab driver. He had just taken the bar exam -- as if that weren't a beating enough!
Be careful out there, guys.

Carry and conceal a gun. You won't be stopped by cops if you don't look like the criminal type. It's that simple. As long as you don't need to check your bag someplace, you're good. I live in Englewood and robberies are never reported because the news outlets have gotten into the habit of only reporting shootings. If a shooting happens in Lincoln Park, it won't be reported in the news. They pick and chose the stories they want to report. I bet if they reported shootings in Lincoln Park, people will start to panic, feel unsafe, and move.

If you wanna walk around at 2am in the city of King Daley, who doesn't care if you live or die. Carry a gun for protection. Nobody, and not even the mayor can prevent you from doing so. By time the cops get there you just might be dead. Your tax dollars at work.

I imagine you hear of things going on in your neighborhood BEFORE they hit the news. Please let me know. I'm a reporter in Chicago searching for the weird, criminal, wasteful things in our society that anger our neighbors. The catch is, it has to be UNREPORTED in local media. Let me know Pam Jones prjones@cbs.com or reach me on facebook Pam Jones Chicago.
