I think Clear Channel was wrong. I grew up listening to Tom Joyner. I've gone through life's problems listening to Tom Joyner. My child learned how to sing Tom Joyner's, "Oh.Oh,Oh", theme song before he could talk. Clear Channel should do their research. If the Rolling Stones can continue to, "Whoa", their fans, young and more mature, then shouldn't Tom Joyner be allowed to do the same thing. Anyway, aren't the listeners the one's that should matter. Old School still rules!

I just started to work from home and was all set to start my day with TJMS on my radio!!! I just saw this piece when I came on BAW to see what was going on. I am saddened to hear of Tom's being let go in Chicago. I will listen online and hope(keep it alive)and pray for the best for the TJMS family.

Tom Joyner was a chicago radio icon. He was never afforded the opportunity to inform his loyal listeners of this transformation. It was totally unfair to Tom Joyner, and entire city of Chicago!
Steve Harvey appeared on the Oprah show to promote his book...
after which Tom was let go from Clear Channel Comm. The thing we know Steve Harvey has his spot. Oprah called the radio station then Gail was a guest. take the guess work out of the situation Oprah the most powerful female in chicago had her Big hand in it what do you think, you do the math.

This is the reason I have XM Radio, I'm sick of Clear Channel ! I listen to Tom and for the rest of the day I will switch to XM when the format gets too silly. Tom has done so much for Blacks ie voting, information, education and the foundation of our people. Steve's show is more slap stick comedy. I guess that's how we are seen ! Let's get JJ Walker (Goodtimes) and The Jeffersons back on the air too !

I'm going to get XM radio as soon as possible so I can still hear the TJMS. In the meantime, I listen to it on the web. Shame on you Clear Channel. I will no longer be listening to V103 or WGCI. I like Steve Harvey, but only when I can tolerate him. Every morning driving to work was a staple for years listening to TJMS. At least they play music. Steve Harvey talks to much!!!

This is such a shame. another positive voice in our community has been silenced. I am a 60+ listener. I am not a fan of Steve Harvey. I will not be listening to his show. Why take and replace such a positve force with invaulable comedic innuendo. We have had enough of this type of buffoonery in the past. It is time for us to set positive examples, even when it come to relaxation and fun. Tom Joyner gave us this. I am no longer a listener along with so many on my friends. You have saddened a generation and deprived another.

Aside from the fact that I love Tom Joyner, what kind of workplace gives you no notice that you will be fired/laid off/let go? Why weren't Tom and his listeners allowed the dignity of a "Good Bye Show"? How can this have happened with no warning? I am angry!!!!

Good bye, V103 and Clear Channel!!
unhappy with this change

Is there nothing that can't be taken to the race card? t has nothing to do with race or how anyone is seen. It's about money. Obviously, they think they can make more money with Steve Harvey and his type of show than the show that was taken off the air. Clear Channel doesn't decide who listens to do. If you think Steve Harvey's show is a bad thing then you should do something about it. There is still plenty of intelligent radio out there if you want...give NPR a try.

hey guys in chicago we in dc,and md went through the same thing and we later came to love steve harvy.this is buisness and should not be anything personal against steve and his is all about change which is sometimes all turning on steve is like turning on another brother, and for what.blessings come in all forms and ways and tom has another blessing coming his way which may be for the lift up both brothers and move is like your job that can one day be taken and given to someone else and we need to be careful of how we throw stones.i know chicago is better than that or at least i thought blessed, and know i will keep you all in is realy a good and positive brother who has had to fight off many evil, hated, and jeolous would you want to be in his shoes and remember the 2 are very good friends and tom holds now hatred toward him so you should not either.

It's rather sad that it's all about the almightly dollar these days. Yes, we acknowledge that it takes money to keep any business afloat, but what about caring about the people. The love of people will outlast any form of money and Clear Channel, please note that you made a drastic mistake it thinking that Steve Harvey will produce the outstanding show as Tom Joyner has done and with that being said, this will not be beneficial to your company in the long run as you anticipate. We, Chicago listners of Tom Joyner will always be his fans and until Clear Channel executives realize they've made a horrible mistake, they will continue to see the numbers decrease on the Steve Harvey show and therefore, you have done nothing significant as you thought.

Tom, we miss and love you & we'll hear you soon back on the radio in Chicago.

How can I say this without sounding crass? It is time for a change. Yes Tom Joyner and his laugh along cronies
are boring. I will not take away all that Tom Joyner has done for our community. He also give mo money to his listeners then any other radio show, but Steve Harvey show is more entertaining. I listen to Tom Joyner in the morning because the reception is bad for the station the Steve Harvey and his nephew Tommy is on. But when I get in my car to go to work I immediately turn to Steve Harvey Show. Tell you the truth if it was not for Tommy Steve Harvey would be Boring also. Baisden is starting to bore me to. Oh well there is always NPR they are sound with true stories that worth listening to.

I thought it was a pre-April Fool's joke when I turned on the radio on my way to drop my wife off at the train.

I have never been a Steve Harvey fan as he has pulled the okey doke on V103 before and left their morning drive for that dredded tv show.

Farewell Tom, Cybil, J-Anthony and the rest of the crew. Can't afford XM radio, need a job!!!

I will miss the TJMS for many reasons. His social activism and the great guests he had on his show were wonderful. He is really about education and had programs to support students in college. I like Steve Harvey, but there is no comparison. The flavor of the morning drive has certainly changed and I will miss the TJMS. But I do wish Steve Harvey much success with his show.
