What is yet to be seen is just how much of this "strike" is political. The mayor of Chicago was Obama's chief staffer. He left that job to become mayor for Chicago. Now you have an Obama staffer Chicago mayor that himself said "let no good crisis go to waste" and he is the one that is bucking up to the unions IN CHICAGO?!!!! Well now can't we just see Obama coming in and saving the day with his great skills as a man that likes to work with others and get things done!!!! oh yeah, this is going to be great! Can we see the headlines now, Obama sends in his education secretary to work out a compremise to save Chicago schools or an equally praising Obama headline. This just could be the October Surprise we're all waiting for, well that or he'll suggest that pot laws go unpunished like illegals to get the votes from all those that think it should be legalized. Face it how incredible is it to imagine Obama, unions, the mayor (Obama's side kick until he left so he could run for a mayor job) all working together for their best interest which would be Obama's re-election!

Think this is helping us make a decision. We were thinking of selling an old condo of father's in DT. I held off for long time because of property prices, but until the waddles of CPS-whiners take a hike for good, I don't think it's gonna get any better soon.

Agree with others here. This too good of a fake and phony stage by the Obbumber team not to actually BE a fake, may be Obamas trip to ChicagoColloseum. Come in and save the day. Heck., this must be the first conflict he may be able to end since he got the peace prize.

And we all know what will happen. This will pass, all the remaining productive people in CHI will either contemPlate leaving or become even more cynical about the corruptocracy we live in.

Then everybody will go and vote Obama AND Rahm Emmanuel again as long as the bread is handed out after taken from others. No need for circus, enough exists already

It is shocking that many parents bother to put their kids in Car Seats but then vote for Union owned Democrat thug politicians like Rahm and BHO. Make up your minds people. Either you kids deserve a shot at a decent future or you vote for the likes of Obama and see their future melt away.

Actually, Rahm is the one the is trying to change things a bit and fighting the unions. He is not doing enough, but at least he is trying - like trying to make the school day longer and have accountability built into the system based on test scores in part.

but you are right - democrats keep screaming for better school but love that union vote.

They dont get two months off they have work shops and have to continue there education during that off school time. During breaks teachers use to set up classroom plans and get a break from SCREAMING BRATS..........They have as much accountability as anyone. If they do something wrong they get fired....As far as kids not doing well that is not teachers fault. 35-40 kids per class room and not enough money for education material is the problem. Most teachers spend alot of there own money buying supplies for classroom.. But hey you nazi fascist far rightser want them working for $5 an hour and no benefits....TYPICAL SLAVE LABOR LOVER...
Income tax cheats ? Who doesn't do it ? Teachers just get an added scam of $300.00 for teaching supplies , maybe more. Maybe it's time to really spend that money on teaching supplies instead of faking it.

This is tooooo funny: Rush today launched a preemptive strike. He believe this whole strike was a setup between him and Rahm and the unions. They demanded outrageous wage increases, 16%, Rahm says "hell no", they strike and , what do you know,? The messiah comes in, makes a grand suggestion, "lets settle on 8%". They settle and the kids are back in school and Obama gets props at just the right time.

Election has consequences. Well, not really. If McCain was in charge now, I think the only difference would be the democrats telling their MSM-servants to set MORE of a national focus upon this in order to embarrass non-democrat leader. Because most Republicans are simply democrats that call themselves something else and still do most what the democrats tell them to in order to feel popular.

So whether or not people vote in Romney or not, the continuous destruction of society and nation will continue under Union-backed (or is it dependent) leadership.

BTW, Romney/Ryan have joined Rahm supporting the kids, against the unions. It doesn't get much sweeter!!!(Oh, yes, it will be much sweeter when Pres Romney cleans out our White House)

Romney won't win the election. Sorry to break it to you. Most of my friends are Republicans or freedom-loving libertarians and I don't tend to keep company with democrats. Having said that, Romney so far is appearing even MORE impotent than MCShame at same time. This is what happens when the republican party seems to be unable to elect their OWN candidates as long as liberals and all the phony "independents" who "takes everything into consideration" and makes up their mind the last day??

I think the only real option that would have had any chance to get us out of this shit would have been Paul&Paul.

I will wear a gas mask and go and vote Romney, but that is only because that I am more annoyed with Comradse Obama than I am excited about Romney.

In any case, if I am proven wrong I will get my rep friends a bottle of champagne or two at the proper moment :)

Also, Rahm has some sinister plans with this, I am sure. Or Axelrod has it figured out. Can already see Obama riding in on a white horse like the Rohirrim at Pelennor fields and "saves the day" and then the world will sned a couple of weeks saying what a great "statesman" he is again..

AMEN, couldn't agree more.

The funny thing: EVERYBODY will realize how phony and fake this charade is from the get-go, but will it change anyones votes or faith in the Messiah? No chance... Those who vote Obama would do so even if he launched a nuclear strike upon Syria and the rest of us would not suddenly go insane now when we have endured for 3 1/2 years.

Big teachers are high paid Government agents, They strike against us kids, knowing their pals - the politicians - will first put on a show, and then they will turn against those who are being forced to pay their outrageous salaries - "the people".

I remember Big Teachers saying that if the high paid agenda driven Government judges would only launder our worker *("middle")* class moms and dads' hard earned taxpayer money in the form of Big Tobacco settlements, it would help us kids. The only thing that happened was that the Big Teachers put the loot into their pockets and then demanded more.

I heard Travis Smiley ramble on today about his "poverty patrol." Never once did he mention that perhaps the reason poverty is getting worse in the black community is because of the near 80% of blacks born to unwed mothers. Or that perhaps inner city schools are so bad because far to many single mothers dont teach the little ones anything at home.

So 75K excluding benefits is not good enough??

Are you telling me that people with comparable education makes 150 plus benefits? Well, if you are talking about all the people Obama has hired for the feds, that is probably not even enough, but I don't know many other people with comparable education that makes 150 K.

I am a physician and have worked in the past for 200 K WITHOUT benefits. Once I had to get that on my own and not including pension here, my paycheck went down. THEN I get sacked with taxes a teacher can only dream of. Every day, no every HOUR I have a dtate stream of paper documentation behind me and if I do ONE mistake and the right patient-lawyer combo kicks in, my life is he11 for the next year. A friend of muine shot himself after he had to face a law suit over 3 years where he was essentially forced to settle at the end. It cracked his entire soul. My average weekly hours put in is about 70-80. Vacation?? Hah!! I'm lucky if I get one week in a row.

So
teachers, STFU and start actually thinking a little bit about others. Oh that's right, no need for that, after all you are in a union.

Finally, I'm getting tired of being a physician now to begin with. I have planned to quit in 3-4 years, but if CPS could give me a 75K job with less than 9 effective months worked, I am game, just like many other people who would love to have you guys schedules.

FInally, don't give me that cra-p about screaming kids. When you have gotten spit at, threatened with lawsuit because som, eone doesn't want to give you pain meds, or had a gangbanger walk around in crack stupor holding a gun while he is checking what you are doing with his buddy when that one is given help.

Sorry teachers, my sympathy with you guys is less than ZERO and the conduct of CPS-teachers has definitely helped propel that degree of sympathy down in the gutter for a looong time.
