1 If my grandmother started talking shyte I'd have no problem saying, "see you in a year, and if you pull this again, I';; see you never." Just because she's a relative doesn't mean she automatically is tolerated. That's some seriously bad advice from Abby.

2 I'm in the group that laughs at a 90-day rule. When I was single I had little to no interest in someone who make me go 3 months before nookie.

I had a girl tell me one time she had a 10-date rule. My response was that I'd see her for all meals for 3 days....she didn't quite get it....and neither did I, sadly.

Glad to hear there are so many of you who would drop a woman because she won't let you in her pants right away.

Is that why that gal threw a chair at you? You were trying to get at her goodies and she was making it not easy for you so you'd appreciate it more? "C'mon, baby, make it a challenge for me. That's it, throw something at me. Yeahhhhhh, that's hot."

Saluki is the only one who expressly said he would drop a woman.
I honestly don't know what I would do. I know what I would like to do, lol.

I think someone who has to have little rules to protect themselves doesnít have very good judgment and probably isnít the brightest bulb in the bunch. I would also think, why should we have to wait to have sex for 90 days just because youíve had poor judgment in men in the past.

Also, why should their short comings be suspiciously cast upon me, until I pass the 90 day probationary period. Why can't I just be treated as an individual and on my own merit and not as a member of the male sex, who she's had bad experiences with and is suspicious of?

None of ^^^^ these things are desirable, IMO.

Who said right away? I gave no set time limit. Sub said 5 or 6 dates. Does not sound like right away to me.

Arbitrarily waitin 3 months is way past "right away".

Hmmm sounds like Sub gets it too re: Rules.

I like it. The RULES are for people with poor judgment, so they set up rules to govern their behavior.

DEAR ABBY: My grandmother is 75 years old and, unfortunately, very unpleasant to be around. She has made many hurtful remarks in the past, which have led some family members to shut her out of their lives.
I live in another state and don't see my grandmother very often. I call her once or twice a month. When I do, she's nothing but pleasant with me, but she's often angry and tearful about other members of the family.
She feels her children and grandchildren should respect her as the matriarch of the family and include her in all family get-togethers.(My family tells me they have stopped inviting her to many functions because she's such a troublemaker.)
I'm concerned about my grandmother and am beginning to think that my parents and siblings should overlook her unpleasant behavior and occasional snide remarks. At the very least they should include her in important family functions. I'd be interested in your opinion, so I can share it with my family.-- TROUBLED IN MINNESOTA
DEAR TROUBLED: Your grandmother appears to be reaping what she has sown. Verbal abuse often leaves scars on those at whom it is aimed, and no one can be blamed for wanting distance from a person who is deliberately hurtful.
Respect is something that has to be earned. Your parents and siblings "respect" your grandmother from a distance because they have learned it's the only safe way to do so.
Does this mean she should automatically be excluded from all family get-togethers? No. However, before she's invited to an important event, she should give assurances that she'll watch her mouth and be on her best behavior. Or else.
If this seems heavy-handed, so be it. It's no crime to protect oneself from someone else's mean-spiritedness.
When was Grandma last seen by her doctor? Maybe she needs a checkup. If she has health issues, see that they are addressed. If her health is good, then tell her the truth about why she is not being invited.

"Right away" is a relative term. But my definition was 'by the 5th date'.

Hey dum dum, over here. I'm the one who said dating "rules" are stupid. And no one in here has dictated an acceptable waiting time any more than you did by criticizing people who would dump a chick for not sleeping with them "right away." You just go ahead and keep making stuff up, though. You're the only one in here dumb enough for you to win an argument against.

Better go slower for yourself. He didn't say what the right time frame was, just that 3 months was past it.

"How" is he to dictate the proper time frame or "who" is he to dictate the proper time frame? You flippin' retard. And he didn't dictate the proper time frame. Look at post 26. The LW set a time frame of 3 months. YOU were criticizing people for saying they'd dump people if they didn't give it up right away (another mischaracterization by you), and Tonka clarified as follows: "Arbitrarily waiting 3 months [as per the LW] is way past 'right away'."

Whichever schools you went to should give your parents an apology.

How is he to determine how far away would be past "right away?"

I can see your brow furrowing and smoke coming from your ears in a vain attempt to try to understand the question.
