1. When you get the feeling that you actually mean something to each other.

2. You could not be a sloppy whore. You hav a daughter, you get knocked up, you "hope to marry the guy someday," you are painting a picture of a self-centered moron who should not have been allowed to reproduce in the first place. Lily is old enough to recognize bad behavior, and she is seeing it in spades from the one person who should be trying the hardest to be a good example. You are a failure.

3.

It must have been a state charge, not a Federal one, because Feds don't have parole.
I agree with Edog: I'd want to know before I got into bed with him.
I would imagine somene with this kind of record may not have a credit record or a credit card. Lack of plastic will be apparent pretty soon these days.
There will be jobs he won't be able to get that may have some relation to his schooling ( so you were a finance major, how did you happen to get into office machine repair?)
Buches of oportunities to bring up the subject fairly early.
Federal Prison does have parole. I know b/c the 'net says so and the 'net doesn't lie. Just ask my French model boyfriend.:)

The baby is only 4 months old! She's been an only child for 13 years!! I think you can afford to give her a little more time, even if it is spent pouting in her room.
hell, M is almost 2 and A STILL isn't used to a younger sib yet!

for LW, just don't make the 13YO a third parent... asking her to help a bit aroudn the house with the baby as part of chores is one thing, but making her babysit all the time after school or all day on the weekends is somethign else.

You're right. Late 80's. If you were charged with something before they absolished it, you can still be given parole. Now though, they give probation and not parole.

At least I did have that caveat before that I read it on the 'net! Must have been a very old article or a very wrong article. Or maybe both.

That is a huge honor. He had to be great. French horn players are pretty rare, too.

I kind of see two sides to LW2. On one hand, teens can be kind of sullen and feel generally misunderstood and like misfits. On the other hand, the LW decided to have a baby with and live with a man who didn't really get along with her daughter? My mom did a great job at balancing this, honestly. She NEVER would have put me/my sister's happiness or health before her partner's. There was a period, several years after she'd been married, where it came up that I may have been sexually assaulted as a child, and my mom immediately sat down and level-headedly/protectively discussed with me the possibility that her husband (my father, as I see him) may have assaulted me. At the same time, when I was being a brat to him, I was punished and expected to treat him with respect. It's hard to say which is going on here. I feel like the LW may have pushed this new man onto her daughter without really having her daughter's best interests at heart.

In other news: Hi, friends! I'm back.:)

2- I'm assuming Kevin is the father of the four month old? While a strange man moving in and a new baby is a lot for a 13 yo to take in all at once, she needs to learn to deal. I say just leave her be and don't try to force anything on her. She'll come around eventually.
Shockingly, I more or less agree with this.:)

As long as it seems like a fairly normal situation that just requires some adjustment time, I say live and let live. Encourage interaction and a family dynamic, but don't force her into anything. She might just need some time to be herself and rage in her room alone/to her friends. If there's a seriously family disconnect, then more action may need to be taken.
