So, now I understand what Obama's campaign mantra - "yes we can" - means.

It means that Obama can bring to Washington D.C. the sleazy Chicago-style politics - yes he can, and yes he did. And I thought Obama was just a fan of Bob the Builder. Silly me.

Oh yes, this disgusting and embarrassing display of Chicago-style politics where Obama was spawned has spread to Washington D.C. And Obama is not even president.

And still, the media fawns over the anointed one and throws softball questions. Obama doesn't have an opinion on the Gaza incursion. So what. Obama first says Blago should not pick a senator and if he does that person would be banned. And now, well, the Chosen says it's not his place to comment, and no one asked him about the race comment made by his FELLOW ILLINOIS DEMOCRAT SENATOR and FORMER BLACK PANTHER BOBBY RUSH.

After all, Obama's only a president-reject...er...elect. .

Let's not forget that Obama's OWN investigation cleared Rhamn Emanual of any wrongdoing in his 27 conversations with Blago about the senate position. Uh huh, just remember, Patrick Fitzgerald has a lot more tapes that no one YET knows about. And Fitzgerald DID NOT clear Rhamn of unethical behaviour.

I still want to know what Obama promised Emil Jones last September that prompted Jones to release the ethics bill he was holding up all year. That ethics bill is what caused Blago to hurry up and raise money before it went into effect.

Obama is the first affirmative action and media-manufactured president in this country's history.

Consider just two years ago Obama publicly stated that he would not run for president because he didn't have the experience. Then he picked a vice president who told America that Obama did not have enough experience to lead.

I think there's a pattern here.

Rev. Wright
Bill Ayers
Gov. Blago
Roland Burris
Bobby Rush
Tony Rezko
Emil Jones
Mayor Daley
et al.

It is good to see that Roland Burris is going to get his chance to serve in the senate. He seems as qualified as anyone else that appears to be in contention. I think he does suffer from the same cynicism that most Illinois politicians have. As hot as everyone is now, in 2010, all will be forgiven as the democrats seek to hold on to this seat. Remember, this is the same state that elected our current governor twice and in Cook county look how many times we have reelected our leaders such as Daley.
Remember how Bill Lipinski snuck his own son in to fill his seat? Two years later he was easily reelected and he is not really a front page congressman is he? Unless Roland Burris gets caught literally with his pants down or is indicted, he will not have a problem getting reelected if 2010 remains a democratic year in Illinois.

Boy, Reid did his 180 so fast I nearly got whiplash. Wasn't it just yesterday when he was standing firm on rejecting Burris?

I was giving him at least a couple more days before shamelessly caving.

Now, will Jesse White give in and sign his good name and integrity away?

And the media is still drooling over Obama, and pitching softballs to him. I can't imagine how brutal they would be if Obama and the Chicago Gang were Republicans!

Buckle up, Obama. It gets more difficult every day. And you can't duck and vote "present" when you're president.

Hey, Caligula made his favorite horse a Senator in ancient Rome. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Gee, I wonder if Daley is going to get his O'Hare airport expansion as part of the stimulus package? I know that would just be a coincidence.

Must be tough being a Republican these days. Your boy Bush screwed the country up and nobody really cares about the "Chicago Way" or other assorted Illinois corruption.

Blagojevich really is the last surviving member of the Serbian extremist Black Hand, which assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and started World War I. Other than that, he's just a jerk of a politician who got busted doing his business.

That this didn't bring down Obama and Rahm Emmanuel just stings, doesn't it? Heh heh.

Mr. Kass, it is so refreshing to read a commentary like yours, you tell it like it is, you do not mince your words and have a cheeky sense of humor to spice it all up. You are one of my favorite commentators, I have very few, two or three maybe.

It is nice to see the cynical attempt by the democratic leadership to have its cake and eat it too by not calling a special election blow right up in their faces. Really, if all these folks were truly concerned about taint, the democratic controlled state legislature could have scheduled a special election. Having not done that, they needed to either have a lightning fast impeachment or simply accept that the governor can make the appointment. Resign- be real, if every politician accused of dishonesty/corruption would resign before conviction or even indictment, who would serve in this state?
State is already in a financial crisis...$15 million for a special election??? Yes..I would like to see one being a Conservative....but do you want to pay with your tax dollars? Let Mark Kirk run aganist him in 2010 and this will be over.

easy thing everytime!
I supported the guy...now I am amazed at his lack of character. But then character is out of style now isn't it. PC is in and unless you are white you can do no wrong.

Rahm is currently on an extended trip to Africa (probably chasing down or sealing all known copies of PEBO's real birth certificate).

Geez, you folks need to get a life and prioritize. Oprah is 60 freakin pounds overweight and Gayle is very upset. Screw Iraq, Afghan, Gaza and this whole a-twitter about Blago/Burris. Start lighting candles and doing novenas to get Oprah under 220 pounds ASAP otherwise Gayle is going to kick her out. Then its no date for Oprah for the Immaculate Inaguration on the 20th. Oh yeah, tell Richie and Degnan that Burris is rolling over on the O'Hare expansion and Peotone. Fat City baby, job well done!

Whatever, Kass. Bottom line is that Burris has served this state well, and there is no legal way anyone could block the governor's appointment. Your cynicism and snarky attitude is embarrassing. You have not an original or creative thought in your head, it's the same old, same old, blame it on the Chicago Way. As if corruption is only in the city of Chicago. Can we get a real columnist or just recycle Royko's old pieces in your place?

He was probably fatigued since he recently returned from the war. How many other Illinois elected officials can say they were there fighting for our country?

Jesse White will be forever delegated to second tier status for being the patsy in this entire mess. Lisa Madigan fared no better by first trying to get the Illinois Supreme court to what was it she did, have the Governor declared insane? and then had to go back up Jesse White's refusal to sign the Roland Burris appointment...she will lose that one also.

Obama and US Senate are neophytes when it comes to the Chicago Way obviously. Blago beotch slapped them during round one...Now they can all lick their wounds and get all pretty before the inaugural balls and Blago has effectively turned the tables on the inneffective Illinois legislature that could have called for a special election but chose not to.

Even Howard Dean called Blago a political wizard. That is high praise from the Chairman of the DNC.
