Then you owe it to your students to stand up and expose this mockery.
What your school and principle are doing is wrong on so many levels and sends such a bad message. These kids are literally being brainwashed.

Your'e not wrong.
I also have big issues with donating to Relay for Life and stuff.
I cannot give when over 85-90% goes to CEO pockets or lawyers or advertising.
My job spends then entire.school.year harrassing kids with propaganda for Relay. It is SO obnoxious. Charging them $1 for PJ pants every flaming Friday! Hats here, snocones there....and it starts in September!
The prin gets up and cries and uses hardcore pathos propaganda (awkward when you're teaching prop techniques, no?).
The worst thing: it's all so we can get some dumb plaque saying we raised more than ay other shcool. It's gone beyond the cause and all about the image. It grosses me out.

Oh, I know.
But I have to tread carefully. This is my boss. It's a small town. She does my final eval and it's so subjective and prone to be punitive.
I am very careful about how I approach things.
I NEVER say a word about the homeroom challenges. I never pushed or asked, just let them hear it from the morning show. My kids collected $0.00. Guess what? No donut (read: bribes) for us!

There is so much bribery in school now. They get airheads for bringing a freaking piece of paper back! Donuts everytime a team wins. Yes, because what kids need is pure sugar first thing in the morning. We don't have juvenile diabetes on the ris and obesity a major problem....of course, our PE teachers are the most obese in the school.
A kid said that to me...how do you respond to that truth?

I just gave him a look that said, "You are correct and I agree but I cannot say it aloud."
He's a gifted kid and got it.

I mean, an obese PE teacher is like me teaching English and not knowing how to spell. Insulting.
