Put it in context.

I have read from a Jewish source where it was said that the rabbis or sages taught their disciples to be more mindful of the Talmud than the Tanakh. Those may not be the exact words but they convey the exact sentiments.
In essence things taught by the rabbis via Talmud takes priority over what God said directly or via His prophets.
I am reminded of words spoke by Isaiah the prophet and surely they are applicable to the gods of Judaism.
"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."
I agree with you, HughBe. The Jews have not remained faithful in the covenant and have relied more on their interpretation than the actual word of God. They should know better from their history, but history tends to repeat itself. What will cause their downfall is not the Rabbis but the Christians. I think they should be kicked out and it is they that will cause Israel to go into captivity once again. What prompts captivity is idolatry.

The God El (YHVH) talks, fumes, abuses, curses, loves, avenges, threatens, murders and in short he displays every human trait and yet ironically he does not wish to reveal his face! LOL.
There exist many anthropopathic typal beings like El who refrain from incarnating in human form and are happy displaying human qualities as mentioned above and expectedly they have no wish to be portrayed in human form.
God is human and has human attributes. God has revealed his face but we are not to look at it. A lot of people lost their lives thirty years ago for publishing the face of God. A still picture is considered an idol. In response to your statement about other gods talking, idols do not speak, only the living God of Israel does. That's one of the things that separates God from the idols which are not alive.

But Susan, you say that you agree with me and yet you are not acknowledging that Judaism by how it operates is idolatrous.

If ANYONE obeys men or women over God they are putting their rulers ABOVE God. Judaism VIOLATES the FIRST of the 10 and much more.

The rabbis are BLINDLY ADORED and that is IDOLATRY.

Keep in mind that some Jews are Christians.

I don't disagree that the world is, in fact, more complicated. I also don't doubt there were many more buggy whip repairmen and butter churners in the Washington administration.
My question, and I don't believe there is an obvious answer. "Should there be computer programmers and air conditioning repairmen on the government payroll?" Or, could these services be better provided by contracting them from the private sector?
Actually, the answer is a very easy "yes". While for some functions contracting private industry is better, there are plenty of cases where that is not a good option. Part of my job in the Navy included computer programing...

The Obamacare web site is a glaring example of the private sector at work under government contract. Of course, most of those problems would have been avoided if the individual states done their duty to their citizens and established their own exchanges.

The EPA has done some very good work. Setting standards for air and water quality is a fine example.
Engaging in the creation of an artificial biofuels market that cost Billions and inadvertently sparked basic food shortages across the globe to provide a product that no one was looking for, probably not so much.
A department like the EPA is a good example of a function of government -- make sure people aren't throwing their garbage in the sea, land, or air. But, that needs to be the limit of their function. Set the standard, enforce that standard, rinse, repeat.
There is a lot more science needed in the world today. Probably the best method is government subsidy to universities and let them do the work.

The idea of creating an artificial market for biofuels is, in and of itself, a good idea. It was poorly executed. People are addicted to oil, and every dollar spend on oil is money for terrorism. I am not just talking about petrodollars sent to Saudi Arabia, either. Even domestic oil aids terrorism by letting the Arabs sell to India or China instead of us. Then too, global warming must be addressed, and that also means putting an end to fossil fuel usage.

If the us government was such a grand idea these days and people thought that they were great then they wouldn't have to extract payment for their services by force.
Not true in the slightest. Even with something like the EPA, there are plenty of people who would rather be allowed to poison the air & water without limits in the thought that they can gain a few more cents of profit. Just like there are people who "choose" to be homeless, living in filth and not knowing where their next meal is coming from, when they could accept the fact that they are mentally unbalanced and need treatment.

And yes, I am deliberately comparing those who do not like the EPA to nutjobs that live out of a shopping cart and argue with themselves...

I would love to say I dont blame him, its a tricky situation, but I DO blame him. IF you are going posture, you need to follow up. Posturing and waffling is not good for anyone. Obama is terrible at foreign affairs.(That said, compared to the other orangutans in the other party, I would vote for him again in a heartbeat)
Yeah, Obama's biggest failure as POTUS was drawing a line in the sand over chemical weapons and then doing nothing when Assad used them.

Christianity is idolatry and a lot of Jews are falling into it. If they don't learn from the past, they are doomed to repeat it. Christians serve idols, from the figures of Jesus, the cross and the statues of saints. All three of those are instruments of worship. I don't believe the Jews serve idols.
