He zones. She sells. And it's legal. -- Sales, Richard M. Daley

It's hard to miss Barbara O'Connor's face on a drive through North Side neighborhoods, where her real estate signs beckon buyers to "find your way home." In the last decade she has built a thriving business ... Full Story

So, why do people vote this guy in office and why do regular home sellers use this woman? You only have yourself to blame.

the only way to solve crooked politics at all levels is to
(1) impose a 5 year maximum term for all politicians

(2) eliminate pensions for politicians

Career politicians always become corrupt or lazy (or both). Our founding fathers didn't intend for political office to be a career.

This is the Chicago way - and this is what Obama will bring to the White House. But of course he cannot win, so the point is moot.

Only way anything can be done if the Feds investigate, but they are too afraid of Daley - since he has the backing of Durbin and Rahm.

So either way, Chicago people, you are scre*ed

Vote them out.
Oh thats right. Only 35% of Americans vote. That means 65% of Americans deserve exactly what they get in my view.

Do we really need quotes from professors to tell us that giving zoning approvals for projects that your wife later earns a real estate commission on is crooked?
God knows what OTHER crooked business that O' Connor is up to that Tribune reporters did not have time to dig into.

Chicago's and the sate of Illinois' political corruption is becoming legend.

Vote Republican as the lesser of two evils.

riiiiiight. because we all know that everything's above board in the White House as it is. No-bid contracts to Halliburton, anyone? Why don't we keep the comments to the topic at hand.

Everytime we drove by a monstrosity of a new development in our ward, the sign ALWAYS had Barbara O'Connor as the listing agent. It is the least-kept secret in the 40th ward....what took so long to discover this?

Chicago Tribune: Could we have a full listing of EVERY property listed by Babs that had a zoning change/variance in the past 10 years?

Couold we also look into Mr. O'Connor's relationship with Swedish Covenant Hospital and the variances/preferences he has helped them out since he's been alderman?

These people are immoral criminals and should all go to jail.

We also need a big story on how Ed Burke plays absolutely every angle in his and his wife's lives to line their pockets on the backs of the taxpayer. Law firm representing people doing business with the city regulators and Burke's committees. Wife goes to law school late, first client is United Airlines, gets on the bench within a couple of years (husband slates judges for the party), ends up on the state Supreme Court cuz we're told she's so damn smart. Instead of stories about adopted babies.

Democrats are the party of government and people in government innevitably steal so Democrats make it more likely that there will be stealing. That simple.
However you are right in Illinois the Republicans are awfully crooked too. I said that they were the LESSER of two evils, not that they weren't evil.
The problem in Chicago though is that there are NO Republicans so there is no competition for, or anyone to watch over crooks like O "Connor. Until there are Republicans nothing will ever change so open your wallets taxpayers.

Incredible.

After so many decades in Chicago I don't know why I am left so gape-jawed when I'm presented with such bald, unashamed examples of municipal government corruption. This couple would do well in India, Italy, or some West African country.

Incredible.
