Upskirt images bring down 15-year-old Emmaus High School student

For several months this past school year, an Emmaus High School student used his cell phone to secretly shoot upskirt photos and videos of girls and teachers as they walked up stairs, authorities say. Full Story

Lighten up Francis! This is a kid taking photos of clothed women wearing what they do in public. It is not like he hid a camera in the girls locker room. This is in an open public space in a school. I think it is just as wrong for teachers to wear skirts so short that students can see up them. Sure it is illegal and just wrong to snap photos like this but sheesh boys have hung around the bottom of stairs to look at gals forever. By the same token females wear short skirts to attract males to look.

At 15 yrs old ,he should have known better! Now he is trouble w/ the law at such an early age. Cell phones should not be allowed in school. We didn't have them at all when I was younger,n we came out just fine.

I wonder how many people saw this boy taking pictures and just laughed at what he was doing. I hope you now realize how traumatized these girls are as a result of his actions. Next time, pretend these victims are your sisters or mothers...would you want this to happen to them? This boy deserves to be punished and anyone who approved of his actions need to reevaluate their values. This was NOT OK and I pray that the victims find peace.,

We should not ban cell phones in school, ONLY camera phones. I know years ago we did not have phones, but times have changed. I definitely have a problem with the camera phones for this reason, but I do feel kids should be allowed to have cell phones. If an emergency would happen during school and cell phones were banned, everyone would be outraged. Just ban camera phones, problem solved.

which describes 99 percent of kids.

and, like the cliche goes: "the girls are worse than the boys."

the actress who was in the 50s superman tv show made the rounds of colleges in the 1970s, with one male student in the audience telling her that when he was a kid watching tv he tried, while watching a superman episode, to look up lois lane's dress.

Get Cell Phones OUT OF SCHOOL. Emergency happens the school can call parents. There is NO reason a child or Teen should carry a phone to school or have a phone at school. Period. Easy cost effective fix. Then evey 12 year old won't want a cell phone either.

Cell phones SHOULD be banned in school. I'm tired of having classes interrupted due to incoming calls and text messages from PARENTS to their children. They should know better. One kid received a joke from his dad and decided to share it with the class. I confiscated the phone and the weak kneed administrator gave the phone back to the kid. This happens constantly because of parents who feel that because they "pay" for something, that gives them the right to irritate others and break the rules. There are phones in the classrooms and usually a teacher will have a cell that is accessible if the main phone system is down. If you need to contact you child that badly, call the office. Your child will be notified if there is a problem.

''If you are one of those students or one of those teachers, how do you go back, not knowing if any of these students saw it on the Internet?''

Easy. If there aren't any faces in the photo, then people won't know who it is.

What the kid did was wrong, but my guess is that the internet is his babysitter. There's websites for that "stuff" all over the place.

In reply to "protect the border". Maybe boys do hang around and look up dresses and skirts, BUT, to take a picture is over the line and the worst part; way, way over the line is posting them on the internet. This kid even put some of girls names on with the picture.

Not really. For it to be considered kiddie porn, there has to be some sort of sexual act happening. Since it was just an upskirt and there was nothing sexual about it, then he can't get nailed for child pornography.

Kinda like the family nudist photos out there. They show a complete family, including children, but it's not child pornography because there isn't anything sexual about it. The sexual part is the way people VIEW the images.

If you think kids want their cell phones in school "in case of an emergency" you are very naive, misinformed or in denial. Kids are texting with their phones constantly. They do this during class, while walking in the halls and when the ask to go to the bathroom. They are also accessing social networking sites and posting comments via their mobile devices. They say things to each other in their "virtual world" that they wouldn't really say in person. Never the less, they are saying very inappropriate things sometimes. Understand, that these are not just phones any more. They are mobile computers. So, they can bypass any security measures like firewalls a school has in place. Besides, in an emergency it is not a good thing to have a pile of phone calls going out with wrong information or that brings people to the site of either a dangerous situation or to interfere with emergency personnel. The only reason I could see a need for the phones is so students can contact parents for a ride after some school activity like a sports practice, band practice or club of some kind. However, it still is not necessary since there are actually phones in schools today! One big problem that has become worse and worse is cell phone and other electronic device theft. And, of course, incidents like the one in East Penn and Parkland. Don't think these are isolated either. These kids just were caught. So, either leave them at home or keep them turned off and in a backpack or locker or expect to have them taken away. Simple. These devices simply are NOT necessary during classes or any other part of the school day.

Cell phones ARE banned at EHS. The administration can't catch all the kids who break the rule.

If the girls and women were wearing underwear, the pictures will not be that devastating for them.

This kid needs to be accountable and stopped before his escapades get out of hand.

I agree. Oh, but we don't release his name for his protection. BS! There are some instances where a kid's info should not be released, especially if that kid was a victim. Not in this case. If he was 18 wouldn't he be identified? So what if he is 15. How would the law treat a an 18 year old for the same action? 18 or 15, they both are old enough to know right from wrong. I certainly would want to know if my neighbor's kid is involved in this kind of thing.
