Is Chad your brother?

My MIL (now 92) fought with her brother over dividing things of their mother. They were estranged for over 25 years to my knowledge.

When my IL's moved out of the house and my FIL went into assited living, the kids divided up the stuff with their mother's concurrence.

Now tehre is a dispute between my husband and my SIL that has reached the level of letters from lawyers. And so it goes....

I didn't come from money. At the rate I am going neither will my kids. We are all better off.

Wow, that's too bad, PE. Yes, CHad is my brother. I told my mom that I'd like the cookie jar (and it is UGLY), but if he wanted it, he could have it, I just didn't want it to get thrown out at some point. I also have told my mom that I want two things back that I gave my dad, two of the only things of his that he kept -- one is a very valuable, antique ceramic water jug with spigot (I didn't know it was valuable when I got it for him for only $25). I thought he'd turn it into a planter or something. But he knew its worth from going to estate sales and farm sales his whole life.

The other is a really need small wheelbarrow I found at a floral shop in Silver Springs, MD, made out of metal, that he used for plants. I remember being out there first weekend of May and having it shipped to him for Father's Day. He loved those two items. I'm surprised my mom kept them. She got rid of EVERYTHING else.

That tells you something about the value (emotional, personal value not monetary) they viewed those items.
