Babich hitting low point of lofty career path

Bob Babich put up his dukes. Babich was the head football coach at North Dakota State one night several years ago when he went to see his son Bobby play a high school basketball game in Grand Forks, N.D. He sat ... Full Story

This is exactly like the shoop situation. It is obvious to everyone, except management, that the guy cannot coach defense in the NFL. Who cares what this guy did before he got here. Our defense has sucked under him. Period.

I almost was hoping they would lose last weeks game so that they would have to fire him. I know that sounds bad, but, really, I think they are wasting this whole season by sticking with this guy. There is no real hope of doing anything serious until this guy goes.

Why exactly are the Bears still operating in the cover 2 defense when they fail to get any consistent pass rush on opposing Quarterbacks? Especially when we have an inexperienced secondary with Tillman and Vasher out. Regardless, the cover 2 should be banned from the NFL, the scheme is outdated and opposing coordinators have found the perfect formula to attack it, quick slants!

Another thing about our mediocre defense, can somebody explain to me why we fail to disguise our bltiz? I envy watching teams like the Eagles and Steelers operate in their complex defenses, they make it so difficult on opposing offenses to know exactly where they attack from.

Babich and Smith need to go back to where they came from and sit up in the corner of the bleachers again so they can watch real coaches do their job....Babich is disgusting....he is clueless on how to coach at this level....it isn't what you know it is who you know...so if Smith can't get rid of his best friend that gave Smith's son a chance to play football, than get rid of Smith too...the Bears would be better without both of them.

Well now I know one thing, his performance with the Bears thus far comes from his only experience with a D2 school in North Dakota, This is like choosing Sarah Palin as your running mate.

Babich is almost as bad as Tim Floyd, or whoever that was that 'coached' the Bulls after the house cleaning.

I agree. Fire both Babich and Smith and while we are at it, fire Turner and Angelo.
Then hire Rivera as head coach. I could care less about the history of Babich. Why write this article? So we could feel sorry for him? I could care less about his historical background. It's all about "what have you done for me lately"

How about writing something more interesting ...like who is available to take Angelo's place after he is fired for not being able to draft high picks.

Well I'll start by saying that maybe the players should or better start playing football the way The Bears should! This defense is paid alot of money to be on that field, rotate these guy if the job isn't getting done because from what I see there are some Damn good back-ups on that team that can take some jobs away from headline trash talking players! Cover 2 we all know that team have found away to beat it and its been along time running were teams look at film and just know what the Bears are doing every time there at 3rd&8 and so on! Time for these guy to take control of the defense from Babich! Urlacher is the captain of the Defense ! So he should shak'um up and be the Monsters of the Midway

Blows below the belt? Babich's belt is so low, that's nearly an impossibility!

I'm sure he's a good Christian, Father, Guy, friend! BUT - he sucks as a defensive anything in the pros! BFFN

The Bears Defense smacks as a collaboration between Smith and Babich.
I believe that Babich does not have 100% control of the Defense, that Smith has a hand in calling the coverage schemes during the games and setting up the game plan for the Defense. If that is the case I then blame Babich because he does not have the stones to make the necessary changes during the game. Dump the Cover 2 and do not give the receivers too much of a cushion on coverage, stay aggressive, and disguise the blitz and actually put pressure on the opposing Quarterback. The Defense has looked lame in parts of every game this year so far.

It is time to fire the whole coaching staff with 1 exception. Retain the Special teams coordinator Toub, he has been doing a good job.

The Bear's` D is not suffering from a lack of talent...just bad coaching

Lovie and Babich are clueless and uninspiring!

The opponents have caught up to the trainee Lovie's schemes and the Mope could not and would not adjust...

Lovie the MOPE and Angelo the Dope are still TRAINEES

Let me get this straight...Rivera's defense helps take the Bears to the Super Bowl for the first time since 85 and he gets fired the following year...the Bears front officer deserves the defense they are getting this year.

Backgrounds don't matter. Results do.
Who cares if he had a weak Division 1 record? If he can't help the Bears, then dump him! Dump anyone who's not contributing to us winning games. This is serious stuff people! With the way the offense and special teams are performing right now, there's no time for Bull----! Fix it and fix it right now! The SuperBowl is up for grabs. Make a change. Fix it!!!
