4 whites sued by 3 blacks over beating in Manteno

Three African-American men who were beaten when they visited a white female friend filed a lawsuit Friday seeking damages from four men for what they called a racially motivated attack, officials said.

To Calvin Vent: my guess is that the Chicago Tribune screwed up. I believe they made a mistake by saying Matt Garza was named in the lawsuit, because nowhere else on the internet is his name mentioned as the fourth defendant. Nowhere. The fourth defendant is named every place I have seen on the internet as being Richard Rybolt. I don't know if Matt Garza was involved in the hate crime attack, but I could find no information on the internet that suggests he was involved in it (other than the Chicago Tribune's printing his name as a defendant in the civil lawsuit). Also, Matt Garza from Manteno Illinois died on 9/29/2007, but it is unclear when the civil lawsuit was filed. If it was filed after this date, then it is unlikely that Matt Garza would have been named in it, assuming he was involved in the attack (but again I have seen nothing that convinces me he was).

On another note, it is so, so sick that people continue to believe that persons should not be in certain places or towns because of the color of their skin. That mentality is so Nation of Islam and Ku Klux Klan. There is no use for that kind of racist Sundown Town attitude. It doesn't shock me that this happened in a former Sundown Town.

Why not? People can go where they want that doesn't give any one the right to beat you down. Obviously she called those three men over to that area.

The crime was still wrong no matter their race. You don't go beating people down.

I agree wioth your response, but cannot avoid to mention that had the situation been the opposite, I am not so sure if 3 white guys would have been lucky to end up with only a beating.

My theory is all black people in Kankakee are inbreed. One black man was sex with several woman gets them prego the woman have the babies and of course the dad is nowhere around and the kids don't know who their daddy is and the other woman have no idea the same guy has three or four woman pregnant at the same time.
