The hard working older people in Ohio are giving
the Buck Eye State a far better name than LW1 is giving it. Wouldn't miss LW1 if LW1 found some other country to live in and stopped giving the US
a bad name.

LW2 doesn't see the people who have the sense to respect her/him during this time of mourning.

LW3 is good.

LW1: The only part of this letter that I agree with is that we Americans have a lower sense of social responsibility than we did in my parents' and grandparents' generations. As far as when people retire and why, that's a personal decision and if people enjoy their work and are productive, who cares how old they are?

LW2: People are naturally curious as to the cause of death when a young, healthy person dies suddenly. Sometimes their natural curiousity trumps their manners and good sense. Try to forgive them.

Throat? Around here we aim for tacos.

I hate the ME ME entitled attitude too, but I find it mostly in millenials, not baby boomers trying to eke out their last years on earth, sheesh.

And anytime someone tosses out "single mother" I'm turned off--like it's an emotional manipulative ploy and I'm to feel automatically sorry for you. Yes, some are valid, but most are single because of their own stupidity. Get a grip. We all have issues.

LW1: Some people just deserve to be slapped. Look, bitch, we are not all in this together and we never were. I go to work for one reason, to provide myself with the most lavish lifestyle I can. I owe you nothing. I will work until I have enough saved up that I can quit working and live the lifestyle I want. I will not downgrade my standard of living for you. YOu are on your own. FU.

Sure, force them out of a job so some welp can have his position. Who cares that your throwing away 30 yrs of business experience and the company will likely tank because they have inexperienced management causing more unemployment.
This bitch gives me the impression that she thinks that the reason jobs exist are to provide employees with a paycheck as opposed to being the businesses cost for getting omeone to do some work needed to keep the business functioning. She seems to think that as people above her retire, everyone below just slides up the ladder as if they were board game pieces. Given her attitude, I would be surprised to see her move up the ladder simply because someone above her retires.

Right. And who's definition of NEED are we going with. I work all my life and have a nice nest egg for retirement, but am still more than capable of working. Unless I long for the free time, why should I stop working? So some younger person potentially can get my job? So when my wife falls ill and our life savings get eaten up by medical bills I have to go find a job as a greeter at Walmart cause at my age its much harder to find a new job making what I was making before I retired? Wonder if this chick would be willing to take a demotion and pay cut to let me ease back into the high paying position I had now that my "needs" have changed.

And if she is only there waiting for her boss to retire then she probably does not know how to effectively do her job anyway, let alone managing the dept.

BTW, how long would she have to live to wait for each boss to retire so she could be elevated?

I completely disagree. And I just went thru this in July. Guy I worked with over 10 years ago died. Since then, we've talked once or twice a year. I got an email from his daughter who I've never met requesting I call the house. His wife answered. She remembered me, but only a bit. Got my last name and first name mixed up. Forgot which company I worked with him at. I was just one of his former co-workers that she had contact information for. Hardly what I'd call close. But I she told my he died and I asked how and she talked to me for about 20 minutes telling me what had been going on with him since the last time I talked to him over a year ago.

But you don't post on FB questions like, "How did your brother die?"
I agree. Questions like that are much better suited for a text message or a tweet.
:)

But seriously, while I do enjoy the banter on FB, I just don't get some of the one on one conversation out in the open. Like 2 people talking about meeting for lunch. Why do you need everyone reading that? Why not send an email or a FB private message?

I see a big difference between asking in person, "What happened" or "how did he die" after being told he died, than asking via FB.
Is this wht you were arguing with the dog about above? The FB aspect of it? I thought you were simply against the question altogether. I agree that such a query should be made one on one or discreetly thru the grapevine.

We are in total agreement. While I feel empathy for any single parent, female or male, personal choices should never result in a favored status.
