I think she needs help. Professional help. My armchair psychologist diagnosis is that all of this is a manifestation of the anger towards her parents and the way they raised her. Add to that the fact that she is of age and thinks she is an adult and she can "do what she wants" now... Of course I'm not a shrink, though I have taken way more psych classes than someone who is not a shrink should have.

Before I even got to this, I think it's anger (at her parents) and FEAR. FEar that she is not prepared for the rest of the world BECAUSE of how her parents raised her.

<quoted text>I will never understand this(you, not her). The way I see it, her taking time off is between her and her boss. Angela just mentioned the other day that she has not had consecutive days off in years, but still uses all her vacation time. Sounds to me like she probably takes every few Fridays off as well.
Fridays when we go to the cabin (like this weekend, we'll leave Thursday night after work). Mid-week mental health days.

I don't have the money for a vacation and NIck doesn't either, so I i take my vacation time regularly, rather than let it build up.

Agreed. Ann and Nancy Wilson -- of HEar t-- their dad is a well known, decorated war hero (nearly died several times from his battle wounds) and he retired right before Viet Nam because he said he knew it was not a just war, and it would be handled badly, and he was right. So a retired Marines Major marched against the war.
It really divided this country, and sadly those that weren't around then, would'nt understand.....Have you ever seen the movie, Coming Home...with Jane Fonda and Jon Voight? Should I feel happy for you that your burden is gone?
Sad for you that the burden you took on seems to be spiraling into
a complete waste of all the effort you put in?
Or not care either way, but be happy for myself for all the 0entertaining stories I have been provided with?
I would go with the last choice. And I'm sure there will still be stories. We're not completely cutting her out of our lives.

I kid, I kid. I used to be a die hard "medium well" orderer. And A1 sauce. Didn't matter, drenched it in that shiz.

We went to a Brazilian steakhouse in Nashville and J got a steak that was still mooing it was so rare. I was as grossed out as he was.

Actually, they were military brats, so they lived in 25 homes in 35 cities in like 15 years.

Actually Bush got assigned to fly a decommissioned fighter jet that was never going to be used in service again. And remember, he went AWOL for a while, and that got quietly pushed aside.
Except I didn't ask about Bush, I asked about Obama. Deflect and dodge, deflect and dodge, the ol liberal mantra.

Beer sauteed onions? Hmmm. I usually make sauteed onions but never thought of using beer. I'll have to try that.

I LOVE Newsroom. The writing, acting, everything is done well. I don't have HBO and watched the first season for free On Demand. I gotta get HBO. It's worth it just for that series.

I know many people on this board won't understand that, but it doesn't change how we've lived our lives and choose to (even before we started dating).
We're not typical like most in the world.

Good morning Chitown regulars. Since this thread is still on my tracker, I've been reading the comments about our past and current presidents' military service, or lack thereof, whichever the case may be. I find some comments regarding Bush Jr. to be interestingly incongruous when it comes to the accusations of war mongering/draft dodging.

I'm just going to say this...I don't believe anyone loves war, and any president that was integral in US involvement in any war knew the negative ramifications it would have on our country. There were promises made, but we're still in Afghanistan. Getting involved is easy, extricating, not so much.

I will never disparage anyone who made a choice to serve, no matter what branch of the service they chose.

Thanks.

Yep, fear of the lord as described in a book written 3000-1650 years ago, by people with less worldly knowledge than today's average 3rd grader is the epitome of wisdom.
