Parents: Would you want this? Would you even want him at the grave of your dead child?(I assume her parents are okay with this or they wouldn't have done it.) But I guess my instinct would be, I'd want him to have nothing to do with her grave whatsoever.
Fine by me. I'm not a grave-visit-y person, so it's not like I'd run in to him there.

My friend said that the average age of taggers is 25-35 and they tend to be white men with full-time jobs.

My India trip has been postponed at least 6 months, probably more, if it even happens at all. I'm ready to eat my feelings.
Maybe they are bringing the jobs back to the US instead? Hope, hope, hope

Maybe in MN.

Around Chicago the graffiti is mostly gang stuff done by teens, maybe early 20's. A few years back Chicago tried to put an 18 or 21 year old age requirement to purchase spray paint. I don't recall whatever happened with that. It didn't stop the taggers.

Local irony. A suburb just south of me which has some extended concrete railroad embankments allowed a local artist to paint a mural with local themes.(Squishy- across from Hecky's)It was okay as murals go and the subject matter was very clear. Time passed, new politicians and community activists decided it constituted an eyesore and had it painted over.
Now the neighborhood just to the west of it has been having an increase in shootings. I figure some taggers will see it as an easel. But I will give you odds that it won't be 30 year old white guys doing it.

Fair point. My friend was told that by the cops. Or... maybe only the 30yo white guys are dumb enough to get caught b/c they're doing it in neighborhoods where more people care about their property.

Aw, bummer.

May I offer the alternative of drinking your feelings? That's what I plan to do tomorrow night (new system goes live tomorrow... wish I could drink tonight but I should probably be rested and not hung over tomorrow).

There will be plenty of time for that--Also just found out that SIL and the fiancé are coming back on Saturday for a week.

I shouldn't complain, as they've been gone for a month, but ugh...

I find that very hard to believe. Do you have a link to some of their arrests?

I know it; used to live up that way and passed it daily going to the MIL's.

There's lots of gang sh!t happening over there now and I'm REALLY glad we moved out a few years ago. I go to the HS now daily for swim lessons and there's been a shooting right were we park only an hour or so before class starts and before that, some dad dropping his kid off for graduation practice got cut up, in his car, by some a-hole with a boxcutter wanting money. I had to turn around to find a spot the day of the shooting (the police had crime scene tape up everywhere) and on the next block, I felt the need to ensure my doors were locked. It's not right.

The last one is about an old dude tagger, but the last paragraph refutes your assesment.

Average age 17 in MN.

I think the cops told your friend that age range sarcastically.

Besides, if he gets paid for turning in taggers, who is on his video?

No, I don't care enough to look for that stuff!:) My friend said the cops told her that (and the security footage they collect holds it up). But as PE pointed out, it's most likely a regional thing, varies by city. Also, my friend's neighborhood is South Mpls, but in north Mpls, I guarantee you, taggers are not white guys ages 25-35.

I was talking solely about Minneaplis, not the entire country. You can't compare one city with another so easily.

I don't think the cops were sarcastic. And my friend's tapes, as I said, show white guys.

There was something similar to that around here a couple years ago. Dude had to do the lawncare and maintenance at the gravesite for X amount of years.

I dunno, I guess I'd want the guy to be reminded of what he's done... But that also may seem like cruel and unusual punishment.

Hey, we've all made mistakes in life.

I want to take the bag of McDonald's fries that the woman sitting next to me on the train is shoving in her and shove it somewhere else.

So I read this right before I had to go to the store. There's a Mc Donalds in that shopping center. I ordered the extra large FF...because you made me crave them. I ate three. <shrug> I hate Mc Donalds.

Usually I would agree; it's a happy-memory-as-a-kid thing, but tonight the smell just made me nauseous.

No, I'm not pregnant.
