My coworker just told me that his brotherís HOA has decided to DNA test all unpicked-up dog poop in the HOA, so they can find and fine the owners. ButÖ how is that supposed to work? THen you have to DNA test all the dogs. Wouldn't you have to get a court order to draw blood from the dog against his owner's wishes?

And itís not a gated community (heck, itís just Edina, Minnesota), so I could live across the street from the HOA, and walk my dog on their property and leave dog poop behind, and they wouldnít have access to my dog to test it. WTH? DNA tests run about $500 last I heard. How much money are they going to spend? Wouldnít it be cheaper to just quietly hire someone to pick up the dog poop left behind (quietly so no one RELIES on it; you donít want people just leaving the poo there b/c they know Joe will be making the rounds tomorrow).?

Oh yeah I LOVE Nancy Wilson. I was going to mention her actually, but then I kind of got on a RUSH thing, and well, you know, it's my happy place so I kind of lose track of everything else when I'm there.

RUSH RULES!
or the long answer. All rush albums are concept albums, not always in the theme of the songs (where the album tells a story), but in the musical style of the album. 2112 is in no way comparable to Snakes and Arrows. The style of the music is completely different, one album is ballads and the other is almost acid rock, but both albums are uniquely RUSH and immediately identifiable as such.
If you read or watch interviews of the band you learn that each album is an experiment into a new way of expressing their talent. And NO, you cannot say that about all bands. Most bands have the same musical style across all their albums and cannot deliver the depth of what RUSH delivers.
<quoted text>
See? I knew you'd be able to explain it well.

I saw an interview with Geddy Lee a couple years ago and they were talking about A Farewell to Kings. Geddy said it was a hard album to put together because they were doing things that were (at that time) beyond them musically. Um...no dude, you guys freaking nailed it. Might have been hard, but they definitely rose to the occasion.

I think it would be cheaper and easier to just slice the poop up to see what scraps it was given, then look thru the garbage cans for the remains of those meals.
(Hmmm, corn and pork roast...I think the Grizwalds had that on Saturday.)

There was a condo associarion in sofla a few years ago that was requiring residents to prpay for a dna test to be done on their pets. That way it would be on file for when it came time to compare to the law breakin pooper. Not sure how well that woked for them. Never saw a followup

How about installing some cameras?

The less contact with poop the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Socialist! How very Orwellian of you!

Kidding, I kid.
Yeah, let's mount butt cams on the dogs, get a good record of the poop and a good shot of the location as they leave.

Would these need to be ass-mounted cameras?

My friend's boyfriend has a dozen or more security cameras mounted outside their house. THey show the street, driveway, down the alley in both directions, and they are high quality. So much so that he turns tapes over to the cops to arrest taggers. He made $5K last year from the cops paying him for each arrest they made thanks to him.

The other day he posted a video of some thug trying to break into friend's new car -- and the image was so clear, even in the mostly dark.

Friend's boyfriend is in his 70s and retired. I asked her the other day, "So what's J doing in retirement?" That's how I found out about all the security camera stuff!

When they lost power from our recent storms, he got the generator running and hooked up the fridge/freezer, and the security system.:)

No need for butt-mounted cams (you guys are strange). I'm guessing that poop is being left in the common areas of the condo, so just get some cameras and point them where the offending poop has been found. Either people will pick up the poop because they don't want to get busted or they'll just move somewhere else less common.

Story in our local paper: Man drove drunk, hit and killed someone. Part of his sentence is he has to visit her grave for one hour every year for 10 years.

Parents: Would you want this? Would you even want him at the grave of your dead child?(I assume her parents are okay with this or they wouldn't have done it.) But I guess my instinct would be, I'd want him to have nothing to do with her grave whatsoever.

Did somebody say cake?

My India trip has been postponed at least 6 months, probably more, if it even happens at all. I'm ready to eat my feelings.

Fine by me. I'm not a grave-visit-y person, so it's not like I'd run in to him there.

My friend said that the average age of taggers is 25-35 and they tend to be white men with full-time jobs.

Maybe in MN.

Around Chicago the graffiti is mostly gang stuff done by teens, maybe early 20's. A few years back Chicago tried to put an 18 or 21 year old age requirement to purchase spray paint. I don't recall whatever happened with that. It didn't stop the taggers.

Local irony. A suburb just south of me which has some extended concrete railroad embankments allowed a local artist to paint a mural with local themes.(Squishy- across from Hecky's)It was okay as murals go and the subject matter was very clear. Time passed, new politicians and community activists decided it constituted an eyesore and had it painted over.
Now the neighborhood just to the west of it has been having an increase in shootings. I figure some taggers will see it as an easel. But I will give you odds that it won't be 30 year old white guys doing it.

Fair point. My friend was told that by the cops. Or... maybe only the 30yo white guys are dumb enough to get caught b/c they're doing it in neighborhoods where more people care about their property.

Aw, bummer.

May I offer the alternative of drinking your feelings? That's what I plan to do tomorrow night (new system goes live tomorrow... wish I could drink tonight but I should probably be rested and not hung over tomorrow).
