They have new promotions running all the time. That is very frustrating to me, because many of them are not advertised (at least not well), so you have to call when your current promo ends and see what they are offering that is comparable. Sometimes it's a better deal, sometimes you have to do some prioritizing.
Also, it depends on which customer service agent you get on the phone. Most of them around here are awesome and work with you if you are nice to them. Occasionally I will get one who makes me want to bang the phone against my forehead multiple times.
That is very funny.....I'm curious as to how these guy's figure their marketing.....Example: I occasionally love Burger King and we have one very close.....They have television commercials about special deals often....yet, when i get to mine's drive-thru, they have zero indication of any special promotions.....and will only cop, if you remember to bring it up.......lol....curious way to build customer loyalty, eh?....

This is the next book I'm going to read:

http://www.amazon.com/January-First-Descent-M...

I think I saw the parents on Oprah or something awhile back and my sister told me about the book and then got it for me for Christmas. It's non-fiction though.

from the consumer end, it sucks to see deals only for new customers, but it seems to me, the job of promotions and advertising is to bring in customers who would not have otherwise come in. If you are already coming in and buying stuff without any enticement...good. Why give you a deal if there is no threat of losing your business?

I even just read a story the other day with Starbucks mgmt saying exactly that. I don't do starbucks, but I guess they have some sort of loyalty program, but from the sounds of it, its mainly for collecting customer information and spending habits. The thinking is, if you're already coming in here every day, why would I give you a discount? You've demonstrated you don't need any incentive to continue giving us your money.

from the article wrote:
The company uses it card information to segment consumers and set up business rules based on purchase behavior, then pumps out offers immediately to them, often via their mobile devices. In the past, that purchase information may have only been available on a weekly basis.

Often, that means targeting deals to people the firm worries are at risk of not returning soon. As for the ultra-loyalists who show up multiple times each week, "Why would we give them a discount?" quipped Mr. LaCugna.

Tonk makes a good point. I am lucky with my cable, I have a choice between 2 companies, so I don't really HAVE TO stay with one or the other.

Nick and the boys like to watch AVF (america's funniest [home] videos) b/c it's funny and kid-safe. So he and I watch it sometimes when we're waiting for a show to start. Tuesday night, he was in his kitchen cleaning up after supper and I had to call for him to get in the LR right away. The video was of a 2yo girl who had stripped down to nekkidness and put on mom's black lace/sheer THONG UNDERWEAR... and instead of the "straps" going over the hips, they were up over the girl's shoulders (that thing was SNUG -- buried so far up her butt crack), and she was running around like it was nothin'. The mom was laughing her butt off.

That video will be saved for teh poor kids bachelorette party...or worse.

My neighbor's 5-6 year old son was being raised with no sexitst non violent toys. One day Sam came out playing dress up with his mom's dark pantyhose on pulled up to his armpits and high heels.

That afternoon he had a GI Joe outfit and a nerf bow and arrow

Matilda-

I just realized that you can post on Topix while you are in India like Aisle Sitter did from Germany and Sublime did from Scandanavia.

How cosmopolitan we are getting!

I'm hoping to make my way back there later this summer, but we shall see. I actually never got over being jet lagged the whole time I was there.

I feel sorry for you that your job doesn't hold enough interest for you that you have to resort to things like this to entertain yourself.
