In fact he did, Sammy. According to Bob Woodward, the well respected journalist who broke Watergate, AND two senior white house aids, the sequester was proposed by Obama:

Obama lied when he said he didn't propose it and it was Congress who did. He lies whenever it suits him.
Since you are impartial and judge each issue on its merits, I'm sure you'll find this information most useful. <sarcasm>
Oh no! He lied just like every other president. I'll survive.

In fairness to him, his words were used out of context. The "Mission Accomplished" statement wasn't referring to the liberation of the Iraqi people or anything along those lines. The mission that was accomplished was the lining of Haliburton's pockets and the tarnishing of our image in the international community. So, you see, he didn't lie, he simply lacked specificity.

This is a nice time killer for a few minutes. From a very funny coworker (I trust his forwards):

Explanations of these events:
a) I did myself, and either got in trouble or commended.(I had a Major shake my hand for the piss bottle thing, for instance.)
b) I witnessed another soldier do it.(Like the Sergeant we had, that basically went insane, and crucified some dead mice.)
c) Was spontaneously informed I was not allowed to do.(Like start a porn studio.)
d) Was the result of a clarification of the above.(“What about especially patriotic porn?”)
e) I was just minding my own business, when something happened.(“Schwarz…what is *that*?” said the Sgt, as he pointed to the back of my car?“Um….a rubber sheep…I can explain why that’s there….”)

From CBS News on February 24, 2013:

"'A majority of Republicans did vote for the Budget Control Act that summer, which included the sequester," Woodward wrote in his op-ed, saying Republicans "have had their own episodes of denial and bald-faced message management.'

The takeaway: Everybody's hands are dirty. But just days before a manufactured crisis sets fire to America's economic recovery, policymakers have fled the burning building, seemingly more inclined to point fingers than put out the blaze."

In D.C., pretty much 99% of them, 99% of the time.

I know, but the left b1tched about it all the time. With Obama, it's okay. Remember all the b1tching about Gitmo? Still open? What about the Patriot Act? Obama signed an extension. Funny how it's okay when its a liberal President doing the exact same things liberals were up in arms about Bush doing. Hypocrites.

NOpe. LIberals are still compaining about it. YOu just don't hear it. THey don't put us on the news. But believe me, liberals are still complaining about Gitmo, et al. Obama also took a lot of criticism for the left over gay marriage.

I don't know why you think he's untouchable. He get criticized plenty. PIck up the newspaper or read anything by any republican.

So get this. Coworker – very cool, nice guy – emailed me today and asked if I'd help him host a cribbage tournament at work, to take place over the lunch hour, two days a week, lasting until there's a winner based on whatever criteria is established. He already got the business manager to offer a $50 Target gift card to first place and $25 to second place. What a smooth talker!

And it wasn't just liberals complaining about Guantanomo. I know *Plenty* of conservatives who felt that it was an offense to the American Way that it wasn't so much a holding place for known or suspected terrorists, but mostly a way to hold a bunch of guys who got turned in by people in their homeland for money. The majority of detainees in Gitmo had no business being there.

And to keep people there for years without due process?

Shameful.

I'm not talking about republicans. I'm talking about the left. He may take criticisms from liberals, but it was very high profile with Bush and all over the news. Obama signs an extension to the patriot act in 2012 and there's not even a whimper.

I've also never heard anyone on here who voted for him say one bad thing about him ... not even from fair and balanced Sam who evaluates every issue on its own merits. Heck, edog points out that Obama flip flopped on gay marriage because you all are criticizing a republican for doing so, in outraged fashion, and except for you splainin it away as a lie, no one says shyte. It's almost like folks are like, nah, didn't happen ... I didn't see anything ... I can't hear you!

I don't get that. I'll vote for someone and as sure as the sun rises, I'll say man, he f'd up this, he f'd up, he f'd up here. No one is going to be perfect, but that's not going to stop me from recognizing so and even if not pointing every mistake out, recognizing them.

I was just as critical of Bush, as you all were. The difference is once your man got in the white house it's like you all put your blinders on. Obama is not that different from Bush, which is a shame, because we didn't need 16 years of Bush and his policies.

Yes, the sequester was his idea. What short memories some have. Just like the fiscal cliff. I though Obama promised he would only raise taxes on the top two percent. Instead, he raised taxes on the top 77%. Where's the criticism? Where's the outrage?

I won't list alternatives because this is not a sarcastic question.

What poor reading comprehension we have. The Sequester was owned by both parties.
