Thats the thing, I dont want an expensive toy I wont use enough. So I am trying to think of what else (besides topix) I will use it for.

Just get the Galaxy tablet. It's the best one out there. I would have kept the one I had, but I didn't use it as much as I thought I would. Expensive toy. <shrug> Also, they are Android so you don't have the whole "Apple owns you" thing going on. Unless you're one of those Apple fanatics, if so I apologize (she says as she puts the mac book air into her shopping cart).

It was definitely unpredictable. The stamp of a good greeting card, IMO.
I heard this Saturday Night skit on NPR. It's Angelou Maya Greeting Cards:

It takes awhile to load, but it's so funny.

So, went to Texas this weekend. Had a great time with my 1 Illinois friend that flew with me and 2 Texas friends. Texas friend C has three kids who are soon to be 7, 5, and 3. As she's driving us to the airport yesterday, she drops the bomb that her husband's vasectomy didn't work and she's 8 weeks pregnant with #4. She is d-e-v-a-s-t-a-t-e-d right now. They had gotten rid of all of the baby stuff, she was very much looking forward to just having the last kid at home during the day next school year, etc, etc, etc.

It caught me so off guard, I had no idea what to say, other than "you can do it". Sending her a note right now, via actual snail mail and I'm hoping I can say the right things.

Yipes! It must suck to be one of those crazy statistics.

So I gotta ask... she told you guys this at the END of the trip. Did she not drink all weekend and no one noticed?(This is me assuming a girls weekend involves lots of drinking).

Yeah, that sucks. You are supposed to provide them with samples to make sure it worked. I wonder if he did so. I never did so, but I had my procedure awhile ago.

She had been having all kinds of health problems related to diet, so she's essentially doing paleo (meat and veggies, no sugar, no carbs, no dairy) and doesn't drink anymore (it was awesome to have a permanent DD the whole weekend). I *thought* she was drinking coffee in the mornings, but I guess it was decaf tea. Plus, since being on that diet, she's probably down 15 lbs since I saw her last, and she was already thin.

I said so many stupid things in retrospect, before I knew "Oh, are you going back to work after #3 starts kindergarten?" I even joked about a fourth kid with a similar name because all three existing kids have matchy-matchy names. Ugh, foot in mouth. She was just bawling when she told us.:(

Even if he did, and it worked for awhile, the two halves could have reconnected if they weren't properly secured. For lack of better terminology.

I guess they have 2 follow up visits after the procedure. If you don't get the green light on the first visit, you will at the second. So, after the first visit, the doc told him he was shooting blanks--good to go. Then the second visit, he wasn't. So they have NO idea what went wrong.

Don't beat yourself up about comments made in jest before you knew what was up. I'm guessing she waited until the end of the trip because she didn't want the weekend to be ABOUT her situation...? Which is in a way good and in a way not good. Friends can't be there for you if you don't let them in. I hope she feels better now that she HAS told you guys, and I'm sure once she gets used to the idea, she'll be fine. And I'm sure she'll fall in love with the baby once she sees him or her. It's a huge adjustment, but she has her husband by her side and obviously since she has other kids, she's not opposed to being a mom.

That's what she said...she didn't want the weekend to be about her, she just kind of wanted to push it aside for a bit. And she's a fantastic mom. Cheerful, energetic, not helicopter-y. I sat and just listened to her kids play together for about an hour--there was VERY little bickering among them. She's just a type A personality and thought she had all her ducks in a row, so to speak.

All my products came with manuals, their all in the same drawer
recipes, ok
angry birds, have that on the phone, just cant get into it, but ok
paper, most wont let you read more than 2 articles
books, I like hard copies.
email, ok
FB? WTF FB?
Camera, Nikon d7000 300mm lens
Calendar? Why?
Alarm clock? Why?
Magazines, nope, dont get any.
weather app, ok.
Music? I rarely listen, but around the house I use my stereo
ESBN, I might.
Since I put all my pics on an external hard drive, I really cant store my pics on the tablet, but I was hoping to use picasa to edit them on the memory card them move them onto the external drive later. thats why I wanted to know about external inputs.

so were up to
email
recipies
topix
angry birds
weather
picasa
crapper games

Hard to justify the purchase for just these, but I guess I only wanted it for inet access anyway, which is even less justification.

The news papers block you after 2 articles ( or 5 articles) because tehy track your device. My brother suggested running CCCleaner dot com which removes the tracking counters, so that the paper thinks you are new again. I haven't tried it. I pay for NYTimes. I get enough of Tribune and WaPo doesn'y have a wall yet. WSJ doesn't give you freebies as far as I know..

That's rough - both the pregnancy and the restricted diet. Pregnancy would not have prevented her from drinking a cup of coffee in the morning, though the smell does get to many pregnant women.

It was probably a little more overwhelming for her at the end of the trip because she had such a fun adult only weekend and she now had to go back to reality.

How is her husband handling the news?

Slight ddeflection. The diet is similar to the one I have been on since the first of the year. It is not that hard and not that ascetic.

Back on point- unexpected pregnancies are rough. I hope teh existing kids don't get wind of it-they will make teh future sibling's life very unhappy with a couple ill placed comments.Grownups can be trusted to at least call it an oops baby

CCcleaner doesn't work for the Trib. I have a yahoo address for shopping and I had to start a gmail one for the tablet. So I used the gmail on the tablet and will try the yahoo one sometime. I do know that the cleaner won't remove the tracker. Won't work on the Sun Times either.
