Charged with "child neglect"? Why wasn't it "child endangerment" I wonder.
Maybe because the dog was outside the bedroom where the kid was? IDK, that seems like something that could vary state-to-state.

OK gang, I need some help with my willpower.

We're having a birthday celebration for a couple of my co-workers and I CANNOT STOP EATING THE BROWNIES!!!!

See, part of me knows that I probably won't get dinner until late tonight, since it's the dress rehearsal for the Nutcracker on Ice, so it's OK if I eat a few extra calories.

But the other part of me, yanno the one that wants me to stop being so squishy, is yelling at me to stop eating the mother f*cking brownies!

So far, that part of me is NOT winning. Help!

Save the calories for all the parties and things coming up. Tell yourself that you will not eat any more brownies today but that in January (or December 15 or whatever) you will allow yourself to have brownies again.

That's how I get myself out of ruts. If I say I'll never eat another one again, I'd just be lying. So far I'm sticking to my no Ben & Jerry's until after Christmas and no chips until the holiday parties.

Drink a lot of water. Now. To fill up. Then drink some more till you feel a bit over full. Repeat.
You will be in the ladies room until the brownies are gone

Unfortunately, I will be on the CTA in about half an hour and would like to have a non-ready-to-burst bladder. Otherwise, that sounds like a great plan. I've resisted so far on my own...

And luckily I will not be here tomorrow to eat the leftovers. Will be at home, frantically cleaning because my mother is coming on Sunday and we're getting the girls' bunkbed delivered as well.

Do you rember RoseanneBarr's stand up routine where she peels a banana, holds it in front, takes her other hand, puts it behind her head and pushes down. Afterwards, she popped up and said Don't forget. "I" swallowed.

Not that you had that in mind for Squishy at work, but just the same....

Wow, what a long and stressful day. So much unpacking to do... after what will hopefully be a good night's sleep.

Thanks for the supportive words last night and this morning, regs.

Happy Friday. Please take a moment some time today to reflect on those brave sailors who sacrificed their lives on this day so many years ago.

Word. My friend - and now neighbor - L came over last night, we ordered sushi and had wine and it felt so good to just sit and not be running around or trying to put things away for 2 hours.

I'm off to our company holiday party in a minute, then really planning on busting it out this afternoon on the unpacking.

I did not see that. I wonder what percentage of the female population has that talent?

More randomness:

Modern Education + the Criminal Mind =
A young woman who robbed a bank in Waco, Neb., went home to post a YouTube video with the title "Chick Robs Bank."
The video has had more than 92,000 views, including views by a sufficient number by police.

News Headline: "'Socialism' and 'capitalism' are most-looked-up words in 2012, dictionary says."
News Headline: "Sarah Palin: Barack Obama is a 'socialist.'"
Hey. The dictionary never said everyone looked up the words.

We Have Seen the Present, and It Does Not Work:
A construction crew was ordered to stop work at Sinclair College in Ohio until the men could find a sign to replace "MEN WORKING," which was in violation of the college's policy requiring an "inclusive and non-discriminatory" environment.

News Headline: "21 furious Twitter reactions to Justin Bieber's Grammy snub."
This being an age that has made possible something called a furious tweet.

Modern Education + the Criminal Mind =
A man in Portland, Me., called police to report that a prostitute had left with 10 minutes remaining on the session he had paid for.(I thought Race lived in Florida?)

News Headline: "Survey: Detroit most dangerous city for gays."
In other news, Detroit, according to FBI statistics, is the most dangerous city for everybody.
