That's because she was abroad and saw how good socialism is.
She was a liberal broad before she left.

She's engaged to an Englishman she met in Hanoi!

Wanna talk about marriage rights? You have to get permission from the government to marry a foreigner. You have to prove when you met and even have to know his favorite color! Then you have to fill out paperwork, months later you have to fill out more paperwork, months later you have to fill out MORE paperwork... takes about 9 months and at least 2 thousand dollars, and the government can say NO, you can't get married!

He thinks it might be easier to become a citizen by finding a job and being "sponsored" by a company. He's an engineer, literally a rocket scientist. He was worried about how hard it's going to be to find a job and I'm like dude, you're a freekin rocket scientist! He used to design equipment for the English military. I was calling him 007 by the end of the night.

Overall, it was a good night, from what I can remember! I think I got into a fight with some guys at a bar over socialism. I don't have any marks and my knuckles are bruised so I must have won. The cops showed up but that's all I can remember! At least I didn't wake up in jail again!

If you love your freedom, thank a veteran! And remember, no American veteran ever gave his or her life to defend socialism! Think about THAT next time you're at the polls!

Uh, not in America. You have paperwork and crap AFTER if you're getting residency status, etc., for the foreign spouse, but just to get married, it's no different than any other marriage.

Now, if you're an American marrying a foreigner IN a foreign country, then it's a *bit* more complex, but you still don't need permission from the US government, just a piece of paper from the consulate stating officially that you are who you say you are (for the benefit of the foreign government).

Soooo it's not that an American needs permission from the American government to get married, it's the OTHER country granting permission and so it's really not applicable to who does or doesn't have a right to marry in the US.

Yeah, I know, I'm probably wrong. I only, yanno, married a foreigner, in a foreign country, so it's not like I know what I'm talking about or anything.

Well I heard it from people actually going through the process. And their situation is slightly different from yours. So *I'm* probably wrong.

Got in late last night from Portland.
Dang, it was cold. Tired of conferences taking me to far, cold places.
Coldest night of the year before I left.
Very nice people but they were kinda weird. lol

NEVER!

I don't associate myself with veterans because I never fought in combat and don't want to take away from the REAL veterans of our great nation.

And chunzy, in Portland, people from Florida are the weird ones!

Anyone listen to Freedy Johnston? He was on Adam Carolla recently and Adam asked him about "Evie's Tears". Was funny listening to Adam find out that it was not inspired by anyone. Just a song writer making stuff up out of thin air.

Good morning! Happy freakin' Monday.

I have a noon deadline that is under control. My boss is out today and tomorrow (her elderly MIL died late Friday night). I'm probably going to skip out as soon as this deadline is done.

It's always nice when you can turn someone else's grief into personal gain.
;)

I'm jealous - I'm swamped from being out half of Thursday and Friday. Although I did forget that my boss is out of the office today. Screw the salad I brought - I'm going out.

Hi All!

So, we went to a wedding last night (federal workers - most of them are off today). The ceremony took place outside at 7 pm. They didn't mention anything about that in the invitation. You could see people's breath, it was so cold, and no one was dressed appropriately. In fact, even inside about half the women wore their dates' suit jackets because the thermostat was kept so low.

The man of honor wore a cowboy hat and a large rhinestone belt buckle. The bride looked like Jessica Rabbit come to life (I was seriously worried that her breasts were going to pop out of her strapless sweetheart neckline).

The food was good, though, and we got to see some friends who moved out of state a couple if years ago. It was a memorable night.

It was scheduled to end at 1.30 am. We left a little after midnight because we had an hour ride home and I had to bring the boys into school this morning.
