sweet!
It was the best $25 I spent all week. Certainly better than the $256 I'm about to spend on the speeding ticket.:(

Which is a good segue to explain what I meant yesterday about the plans with A falling through and how it's costing me money indirectly. She originally brought it up the weekend before last about her boyfriend coming up here this weekend to meet her friends (not just me) and we'd all go out to dinner. So a few days later, Jasper offered to come down here and stay with the dogs while I was out of town. I told him no thanks for a few reasons: if he's going to come down for three nights, I'd rather be home the whole time instead of just the last one (I got home at midnight last night); I had plans with A on Saturday night to finally meet her boyfriend; and ironically, I didn't want to rearrange my schedule around Jasper and be "that girl" - after all, he did move away. By not changing my plans to accommodate him, I was trying to move on.

So he ended up coming down last Sunday & Monday nights instead. On Monday morning, I emailed A to firm up our plans and at that point she wasn't sure and told me not to plan around her. I told her I already had and I didn't think it was fair to ask Jasper to come back down again in a few days (he couldn't have just stayed here the whole time, he had to teach up there on Thursday night).

So by not taking Jasper up on the offer to watch the dogs, I spent $175 on the kennel and $256 on a speeding ticket I wouldn't have gotten had I not been dropping the dogs off at the kennel.

Jasper called right before I landed and turned my phone on last night and I tried to call him back twice and didn't reach him. My brain is in overdrive and if anything happened to him, I'll regret this whole fucked up weekend for the rest of my life.

Relax, honey, I'm sure he's fine.

$256 for a speeding ticket!!?

Anyway, I'm a little stoked! Going to a welcome home party today for my friend who's been living abroad. Excited to see her again! Even though she's a hard-core liberal :(

That's because she was abroad and saw how good socialism is.

Wow on some of these ages
That was an incredible article. I never felt like I lost myself when I had my child (who is an adult now), I felt more like I was experiencing a different side of life. I can understand someone who doesn't want a child would feel trapped if they had a child.

Very sad.

I decided to get the place that I wasn't THAT excited about last week. I took another look at it today and had a friend with me for a second opinion and I like it much better now. Whew... decision made.

Yay! Glad you are comfortable with your decision.

Is today only Saturday? It feels like Sunday. We are going to a wedding tomorrow that starts at 6 pm. Federal employees who figure that everyone has Veterans' Day off.

Thanks! I feel a thousand times better.

If it wasn't for college football, I'd have no idea what day it is. Election day feels like it was weeks ago. Halloween feels like it was last summer.
;)

Shout out to my friend L who was so helpful to me in the apartment hunt and in making the final decision!

I start with teh Pillsbury Cranberry quick bread mix. I add extra cranberries. Because I make the mini muffins, run them through the food processor a bit first. I substitute OJ for part of the liquid. I grate fresh orange rind into the batter- that gives an intense orange flavor without adding sweetness. Nuts are optional, but if I use them, I toast them briefly in a dry frying pan before putting them in the batter. I add a touch of cinnamon. If we have any orange liqueur in teh house, I may sub some of that for the liquid but that is not teh usual way I do it.

I can't remember if I shared the spread. The grocery sometimes has a sweet cinnamon butter spread. that is very good. Other wise I mix softened butter with lingonberry jam to serve with them. You could use red currant jam if lingonberry is not available. It is the tartness which is important

sounds good... i'll look for pillbury recipe then... i usually take stuff like this to work, so i don't know how adding a spread may work, could be too messy to have "just 'cause"...

I can understand people feeling like that. But in no way Can I understand anyone just dropping off a kid old enough to know what's going on. That's just cold blooded. Government needs to hire those people as covert assasins.

Great that the decision has been made. You must feel more control now that you know where you're going to live.

Don't get me wrong. It's not a puppy. My god it's a human they're dumping them off. Their own child at that! Glad they fixed the age thing. Those kids won't ever be right. Talk about abandonment issues...

I have used an old cream cheese tub to transport the spread.
When you grate teh orange peel,be careful not to get the white underpart. The white pith is bitter. You just want the orange surface peel
