I'm the guy who can sit on an airplane and read an article about plane crashes without batting an eye.
I could read about crashes while on a plane. When I'm on a plane I don't even "feel" like I'm on a plane in mid air. Plus, not that many crashes happen. You're safer on a plane than in a car.

The thing is, in the news about the kids and what-not isn't fiction and is reality. It's a reality, though, that's happening to someone else. While I do react to it, if it actually happened to me if would be a tremendously worse reaction.

Okay -- didn't read carefully. You guys were talking about fiction. That's what I get for a very basic skim and assuming.

I used to with the ex, and I liked it...I don't think I could do it now. I suspect that as one gets older tolerance for yucky things declines. I should be glad I don't have grandchildren and have to change diapers now.

We like to watch Bones while eating dinner. Don't know why I find that appropriate mealtime entertainment.

Heh Nick and I do that, too. Bones is a great show. His kids like it as well. Nick figures, the violent crime took place before the show started, so it's safe.

When J wants to gross SIL and me out, he'll go to youtube and look up either botfly removals (kinda gross) OR cyst popping (unbelievably gross). I'd rather watch childbirth of either form than that.
Next time, he should add guinea worm removal.

I read two of the books, I think. I liked them.
I also read her porno book series Beauty and the Beast. I think I ended up throwing them away (how on earth do you share them with a friend? then they'llk now I"m a perv!)
I read all the Vampire Chornicles when I was younger and loved them. Then got older and thought they were meh. Last move I gave them away.

But some of her other stuff I still enjoy, like Memnoch the Devil and a few others that are non-vampire monster based.

And I still have the Sleeping Beauty series, way high up on the back of a shelf. Don't want the girls finding *that* too soon.

I would let my SO do that, but he won't. And he will only let me help him with his if they are *really* bad.

But he gets ingrown hairs on his neck that I know he can't really reach, but he won't let me help with those.

I've seen Human Centipede. It's kinda messed up. J wouldn't tell me what we were watching until I figured it out.

I just bought Ry the original Star Wars book to give him for his birthday next month. I suppose I could get him some of the newer ones that are geared towards kids, but I am so excited to start him on this series.

He watched the movie with us last month and told us that his favorite part was "the beginning, when he could just read the words".

Books are so cool.

Jasper and I groomed each other like monkeys. Well, not exactly like monkeys because we didn't eat whatever was picked off, but you get the idea. Back zits, unreachable hair tweezing, etc.

Finally really awake and catching up... things seem to have taken an odd turn here.
News about kids- I think it always ripped me up, but then again, I find it hard to remember not being a mom.
Grossness while eating- as long as it's just on tv or listening/reading, eh. No big deal.

Grooming we're like Jasper and JamWow.

Bear and I spent hours last night with two of our favourite SF authors. They don't just tell good stories on paper, it was a blast.
Life is getting interesting.
Two and a half rooms down and eight to go.
I'm starting to gain momentum.

I love this post, because you started out acknowledging how weird things got, and then answered all the weird-related questions.

Did we ever do a "weekend plans" Q&A today?

Picked up the dogs from the kennel/vet/groomer, then instantly cleaned the house when I got home. I had leftover stuffed peppers for dinner, and some wine (still working on that) and watched Survivor on the DVR and am about to catch up on Real Housewives of Miami. My excuse for not going out tonight - besides wanting to hang out with my dogs - is the weather. Hurricane Sandy makes for beautiful balcony lounging but treacherous driving.

Tomorrow: lunch & pedicures with two friends, then watching the Gator game, then at night hanging out with the famous A who has the weekend off because her douchebag - I mean boyfriend - is out of town for work.

Sunday: church, then watching football at Duffy's (local sports bar chain) with A. I'm going to make the most of her free weekend while trying not to make her sick of me.

Oh! And I keep forgetting to tell people this, but I won a $50 Amazon gift card at the conference I went to yesterday. I *never* win stuff and I LOVE Amazon, so I was super excited. Already loaded it onto my account and spent around %15....
