"There was no chance Bush's unit would be ordered overseas. Bush says that toward the end of his training in 1970, he tried to volunteer for overseas duty, asking a commander to put his name on the list for a "Palace Alert" program, which dispatched qualified F-102 pilots in the Guard to the Europe and the Far East, occasionally to Vietnam, on three- to six-month assignments.
He was turned down on the spot. "I did [ask]– and I was told,'You're not going,' " Bush said.
Only pilots with extensive flying time – at the outset, 1,000 hours were required – were sent overseas under the voluntary program. The Air Force, moreover, was retiring the aging F-102s and had ordered all overseas F-102 units closed down as of June 30, 1970." Bush made his first solo flight in March 1970.

Flack's puff piece is a little sketchy on the final years (72-73) of Bush's ANG service.

Missing pieces usually equates to bullcht.

When you get done with that one--plz do opine....one of nicer, simpler reads.

Flack-
You ever heard of "preaching to the choir"? Yes?
Try this one then-because you're "preaching" to members of the choir, that have already absorbed multitudes of notes from the multitudes of song books there of.
Russia (You know--Afghans neighbor there) couldn't "control" the MANY elements of Afghanistan, what ever makes you think the U.S. could?
There IS a difference between the "taliban" and al qeada--look it up sometime. Just don't rely on wikistoopdia to explain all the intrinsic threads of REALITY to you...but INSTEAD, since today is 9/11, might I suggest, in the name of NEVER FORGETTING...one (of which there are MANY) rather interesting read, from a realistic perspective--
"Stones Into Schools".
It's FWEELY available in digital format.
PEACE, through ENLIGHTENMENT-because IGNORANCE does NOT cut it,
Maybe it would be helpful if individuals would stop tripping up on names of these groups who splinter from one another. When both groups promote the spread of Sharia law and terrorism, their basic core belief is the same no matter its origins

I think it was a smart move when the Scottish government passed legislation to reduce the voting age for the referendum from 18 to 16. Young people are more inclined to support change. If the referendum passes it will be interesting to see if they really do develop trade links with North Korea.

Love 'em or hate 'em...Dick Cheney has a long history in government with years of experience. He served as the White House Chief of Staff, from 1975 to 1977. In 1978, Cheney was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives representing Wyoming's At-large congressional district from 1979 to 1989; he was reelected five times, briefly serving as House Minority Whip in 1989. Cheney was selected to be the Secretary of Defense during the Presidency of George H. W. Bush, holding the position for the majority of Bush's term from 1989 to 1993. During his time in the Department of Defense, Cheney oversaw the 1991 Operation Desert Storm, among other actions.
According to Colin Powell before Operation Desert Storm, Cheney "had become a glutton for information, with an appetite we could barely satisfy. He spent hours in the National Military Command Center peppering my staff with questions."
Cheney made several visits to Saudi Arabia where King Fahd requested U.S. military assistance. The United Nations took action passing a series of resolutions condemning Iraq's invasion of Kuwait; and the UN Security Council authorized "all means necessary" to eject Iraq from Kuwait.
Cheney oversaw that successful operation in Kuwait and believed the same thing Hillary Clinton believed about Saddam having WMDs and aiding and abetting al Qaeda.
Ironically enough, Cheney's approval rating in 2006, equivalent to where Obama is now in his second term was 41% approval, 46% disapproval. Those are better numbers than Obama's.
Now...tell me again what this president did that qualified him to lead a nation on the world stage?
LOL. And there you have it folks. Even Republicans acknowledge that Cheney lead Bush by the nose.

And, let's not forget, W and the bankers left this country on the edge of collapse - Obama had some huge obstacles that were endangering the nation that needed immediate attention - and cooperation.
Maybe he should have gone right for prosecution. But, maybe that's one of the reasons the GOP starting relentlessly attacking his eligibility to be president from the moment he was elected - to undermine any attempts to bring the Bush/Cheney war criminals to justice, by denying Obama the right to be president.
There are still people who do not believe he is a legally elected president - and that's the side that thinks what Bush and Cheney did was just fine.
So, in the middle of the country imploding, with two wars going and millions of Americans suddenly losing their homes and their jobs, and homeless camps sprouting up across the nation - he put his attention into getting us back on our feet, instead of prolonging the misery inflicted upon us by the GOP.
Should he have done differently? Was there enough public support for putting W & Cheney on trial? Or, should he have focused on the Americans who were suffering and in danger of losing even more than they already had? Could he have done both
don't know, but Obama and Holder should be prosecuted after they leave office......

You sound amazed. Let Obama show his face around this part of the country and see how "well liked" he is. At least the Scottish people get to vote on the direction they want for their country. They haven't been deceived by a leader who broke every promise he ever made, like Obama.
