House GOP gives up on immigration, but finds time to sue Barack Obama

....the lawsuit will be great for one group in Washington: Democrats. They can use it to argue that Republicans are partisan extremists who don’t care at all about actually doing anything for the country, and would rather spend their time screaming about Benghazi and suing the President.

And when Democrats go about making that case, the failure of immigration reform will be one of their most compelling pieces of supporting evidence. Obama can say: Look, I tried to get Republicans to help us confront this humanitarian crisis. They said they wanted to. And then what did they do? They voted to sue me, then skipped town without passing anything addressing that crisis!

When Obama takes some kind of executive action to address the broader immigration problem, Republican complaints that he’s being tyrannical will be undermined by the GOP’s abysmal failure to offer an alternative. If they had passed a border bill he vetoed, or one that died in the Senate, they could claim they tried to solve the problem. But now all they’ve got to show for the end of the session is a lawsuit — one that will probably offer their own right wing nothing but frustration and disappointment, and will validate everything Obama is saying about them.

If a zinionist's lips are moving, he is lying. No one can believe anything reported by israel. IDF forces were "operating to decommission a tunnel" when the ceasefire ended in violence. It was Netanyahu who vowed to destroy Hamas' tunnel network "with or without a cease-fire." The truth will never be known if we only listen to one side.

$17 trillion in debt

50 million AMERICANS living on FOODSTAMPS

47 MILLION AMERICANS without insurance....

yet Progressives had money to spend on this:

'Immigrant Detention Center Has Hair Salon For Women'

'Further inside they will have access to a dental care, a bilingual library, playrooms, child care, pay phones, flat-screen TVs, free Internet access, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, weightlifting equipment, a small soccer field and a soon-to-be installed playground play scape.'

Republicans now have Obama right where Obama wants them....

The GOP’s impeachment dilemma will only get worse

...the idea that Boehner characterizes as a crazy Democratic slander is the majority position among Republican voters. And they didn’t get the idea from nowhere. They got it because the people they trust — Republican politicians and conservative media figures — have been telling them for years, but with particularly ferocity in the last few months, that Barack Obama is a lawless tyrant who is trampling on the Constitution. They’ve been hearing this not just from the Sean Hannitys and Steve Kings of the world, but from every Republican, up to and including the GOP congressional leadership, on a daily basis. Of course those Republican voters think he should be impeached. It’s absurd for people like Boehner to turn around and say,“Whoa now, who’s thinking of impeachment? That’s just Democrats saying that.”

And consider the odd situation in which that leaves the President. As much as he has been under attack from Republicans over executive authority, he has a political incentive to bait Republicans into talking more about impeachment, which would both build pressure for it within the GOP and force them to deny it to the media. The best way for him to do so is to take more unilateral action on issues like immigration. That would incense Republicans, who would then rush to the cameras to decry his lawlessness, which would lead journalists to ask them whether they’re going to impeach him, which would lead them to tie themselves in knots denying it. Obama would get both the policy results he wants and the political benefit of making his opponents look like they’re about to drag the country into a repeat of the farce of 1998.

So yes, the talk of impeachment is in part a plot by the White House. But they’re only exploiting the pressure that exists within the GOP — pressure that John Boehner and the rest of the party leadership helped create. And if you think you’ve seen Republicans squirming uncomfortably over the question up until now, just you wait.

On Wednesday, House Republicans sued President Obama for acting on his own without approval from Congress. On Thursday, House Republicans told President Obama he should act on his own to fix the border crisis.

The messaging whiplash resulted from Speaker John Boehner's failure – so far – to pass a Republican spending bill that would provide $659 million to help stem the child migrant crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border.

In a statement following the decision to abruptly scrap a vote on the measure, Boehner and his fellow GOP leaders tried to put the onus back on Obama, saying the president had the power to act unilaterally, "without the need for congressional action," to respond to the crisis.

There are numerous steps the president can and should be taking right now, without the need for congressional action, to secure our borders and ensure these children are returned swiftly and safely to their countries."

Yet that was a polar opposite message from the one Republicans delivered a day earlier, when they voted to authorize a lawsuit against Obama for "bypass[ing] the legislative process to create his own laws by executive fiat," according to an accompanying committee report.

It was a contradiction not lost on Democrats, who reacted with their usual schadenfreude to the latest collapse of House GOP legislation.

“Senator Reid agrees with House Republican leaders’ statement that President Obama has the authority to take steps on immigration reform on his own," said Adam Jentleson, a spokesman for a clearly gloating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

He's glad Republicans have come around and hopes this means they’ll drop their frivolous lawsuit against the President instead of continuing to waste the American people’s time and money.”

House Democrats mocked Republicans over the confusion at a hearing late Thursday. "I wonder if after today the president might want to sue the House of Representatives for malpractice," Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) mused.

And Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) asked what would happen if Obama actually listened to the Republican plea. "If we get the president to take executive action, are we going to sue him again a second time?" he asked.
