Breaking News - Cruz Screws his Crews
The new speaker of the House, Senator Ted Cruz (R-BS), just prevented John Boehner (R-Totally Screwed) from bringing to a vote his bill to throw children to coyotes, because it doesnít throw them to coyotes fast enough. Since a bill supposedly intended to address the humanitarian crisis on our southern border didnít include a provision that prevented humanitarian actions on the part of President Obama, Sen SCruzed advised his House puppets to prevent a vote on the bill.
Of course, it was a bad bill that had no chance to become law. It was insufficiently funded, and had more to do with getting more guns on the border than it did with addressing the problems. It was intended to deport refugee children, and to ensure they didnít get adequate asylum hearings. Nevertheless, passage of any bill might have allowed something sensible to come out of a conference committee Ė if Republicans didnít also block a Senate bill (which they did).
Just as happened during the last fubar over funding the government, Sen SCruzed decided that having his name on a wrench thrown into the works is more important than actually doing anything. Does anyone think this move will make Republicans more popular in advance of the November Congressional elections?
But the worst thing of all, for Republicans, is that they will stay in Washington to work (well, what passes for work among Republicans) at least one more day, instead of starting their vacation tomorrow.
Since even Republicans are insisting Something Must Be Done, this may well require the President to do something by executive order. The statement from the Republican caucus actually said, "There are numerous steps the president can and should be taking right now, without the need for congressional action, to secure our borders and ensure these children are returned swiftly and safely to their countries." I shit you not. Republicans in the House are encouraging the President to act on his own -- for which lawless actions, of course, Republicans in the House earlier this week voted to sue him. You really can't make this crap up.
The award for greatest personal tragedy goes to Boehner (well, to the children on the border, but who cares about them?) who got his manhood handed to him again on a silver platter. He could have gotten a bill passed, by proposing something reasonable and getting Democratic votes along with the few remaining non-batshit Republican votes. But no. He is now the eunuch poster child for not having enough balls to stand up to teabaggers. Pretty sad.

Their logic is the same as when they say that the Dems voted to attack Iraq too. It helps with their guilt, they know it was a big blunder but if they can share the responsibility and blame they feel better about themselves, even if they do have to lie at every opportunity.

This isn't too creepy......

"First Amendment: Government's assault on religious liberty has hit a new low as the IRS settles with atheists by promising to monitor sermons for mentions of the right to life and traditional marriage.

A lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) asserted that the Internal Revenue Service ignored complaints about churches' violating their tax-exempt status by routinely promoting political issues, legislation and candidates from the pulpit.

The FFRF has temporarily withdrawn its suit in return for the IRS's agreement to monitor sermons and homilies for proscribed speech that the foundation believes includes things like condemnation of gay marriage and criticism of ObamaCare for its contraceptive mandate.

The irony of this agreement is that it's being enforced by the same Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division of the IRS that was once headed by Lois "Fifth Amendment" Lerner and that openly targeted Tea Party and other conservative groups.

Among the questions that the IRS asked of those targeted groups was the content of their prayers.

Those who objected to the monitoring of what is said and done in mosques for signs of terrorist activity have no problem with this one, though monitoring what's said in houses of worship is a clear violation of the First Amendment. Can you say "chilling effect"?

At least one American Ebola patient heading to U.S.

At least one of two American medical missionaries diagnosed with the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia could be back in the United States as early as Friday for treatment at Atlanta's Emory University Hospital.

The hospital has said only that there are plans for an American aid worker to be transferred to its facilities for treatment, but did not name the patient nor provide an arrival time. A medical transport plane left the United States on Thursday afternoon, headed to Liberia.

CNN reports, however, that the two Americans being airlifted from Liberia are Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol. Both are described as being in grave but stable condition."

Apparently thinks he can save face by repeatedly showing himself wrong/without any proof.

Did the same thing with Hamilton until he decided two weeks later that --oh never mind my snarky comments and whining about you being wrong -- it was JUST a joke.
