Barack Obama, our next President

"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep," Obama cautioned. Young and charismatic but with little experience on the national level, Obama smashed through racial barriers and easily defeated ... Read more

Regarding Conscientious Objectors/Medics In The Field:

According to the Geneva Convention, knowingly firing at a medic wearing clear insignia is a war crime.[2]

In modern times, most combat medics carry a personal weapon, to be used to protect themselves and the wounded or sick in their care.[3]

When and if they use their arms offensively, they then sacrifice their protection under the Geneva Conventions.
These medics are specifically trained.[4]

That crazy Lois Lerner

She accidentally receives Grassley's invitation to an IRS event and her first reaction is hey let's audit him.

It is explained to her that it is not justified

I do accept that. I live my life that way. But it isn't going to be you, me who decides these
moral issues when it comes to Law regarding abortion or gay marriage.
It will be the Government. Whether I agree with gay marriage/homosexuality or not ...
I've always believed: No one has the right to impose upon another who to love.
I struggle with the abortion issue. No one has the right to tell a Woman what to do with her body. But ... it's a personal choice. And I will never have to make it. So, who am I to say.
But the actual premise was your marginalizing, even being a tad demeaning in your description of Evangelicals. "Fringe" or something. "Unintelligent" or something.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Dr. Chuck Missler was a CEO at NASA and
worked as an Engineer on The Space Shuttle. Just one who comes to mind.
I disagree. The anti-abortion Evangelicals are not a small minority.
Protestant Christianity, though many different sects, are a majority that are anti-abortion, along with Catholics. As are Muslims anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, anti-homosexual.
Whether they vote according to their moral/faith doctrine - principles, I don't know.
Your last statement was rather harsh.
Thought I was listening to Margaret Sanger for a second!
You should talk with incognito.

That one claims to walk with Jesus and demeans others at will.

I took that to mean it was either under Jesus' instructions, or incognito was simply following Jesus' examples.

Either one didn't sound appetizing in the least.

So you are pro choice and pro gay marriage. Most people are; besides the fanatics. They do vote according to their religious doctrine; I have seen them coming into the polls with their voting guides in hand. They may not know about any other issues, but those get them in there to vote. The Republican party uses this issue to get the people to the polls. Works every time.
Yes. These two issues are always going to be a dilemma for those who are torn between voting their Faith and voting for others' rights to ( their ) Freedom of choice.

I believe these two issues are a done deal. We need to move on. Illegal Immigration, Border Security, start working on these problems in finding comprehensive solutions.

Just to name a few ...

I don't think abortion and gay marriage are going to be a Republican platform this election.

My medic was a Utah Mormon. Of course Mormons can and do live in most if not all US states. Willard Romney would have also attended basic training in Ft Knox__he didn't of course for "take your pick" reasons.
Son of a governor
College
Married
Mormon Missionary
Dan Qualyle served his basic training at Ft Knox and then went "back home to Indiana" and sat the war in Vietnam out.
I carry no grudge for those who escaped the Vietnam experience or for that matter the military experience__unless they're chickenhawks.
as you well know, Realslime, being a college student was virtually an automatic deferment (ask Plugs Biden)....and being married moved one down the priority list if not otherwise deferred....

serving as a missionary was considered similar to being a student....

then there were "critical skills" deferments, which in some places extended to police and school teachers.......

family and friends influence was rarely a factor (except for Bill Clinton)......
